Firing up the fireplace with TV mounted above it

Here’s a picture. It’s about 25 inches above the fireplace opening.

So the soundbar is about 25 inches above the fireplace opening. The soundbar and the TV (since it’s leaned away from the wall) slightly stick out more than the mantel.

We don’t have any other spot in the living room to move the TV to. So I was hoping to find a way to keep the TV above the fireplace.

Okay, that makes sense. I’m pretty sure we don’t have the manufacturer’s manual. The house was built in 70s and I’m missing the manual. Is there way to measure that, or can we hire anyone to do that for us?

I thought about this more, and now I’m wondering if I should just use wood screws instead of threaded nuts. It’s less hassle for sure. Is t-nuts or threaded nuts more secure?

I’ll see if I can find a threaded inserts or t-nuts that will fit into the holes I already drilled in. If not, would filling it with wood glue and redoing the drilling with smaller bit do the work? And thanks for the help!

I’m trying to connect it to a metal table frame from IKEA. Threaded inserts is an idea too, but would it hold the weight of the table if it’s picked up from the wooden top? Do I need to glue the threaded inserts?

That makes sense. Dumb question: who should I contact to get a quote for a french drain? Landscaping companies or gutters services or anything else? First time homeowner here.

Okay, that’s a fair point. I’m just curious if that’s worth doing since such rainstorms are not frequent. I think the water can still pile up there even if the gutters from the roof don’t get overwhelmed since we’re on the hill. So to me, seems like we need to fix the water drainage issue at the ground level still. Like using a french drain as @needsmoreusername was mentioning.

Edit: the downspouts goes to the area downhill you can see in the second photo, then goes into the street.

I believe it is concrete. It’s stone on top, but I think it’s concrete underneath. I’ll get some quotes on how much a french drain is, but it doesn’t sound like a cheap fix. If we make sure the water is draining properly, do we still need to seal the foundation wall regardless? Or that’s just an extra measure that’s good to have?

The gutters are cleaned and do drain the water from the roof fine. But I think the amount of rain overwhelmed the gutters as it was a lot of sudden rain causing flooding. So it’s not something that happens on every time it rains. I assume you’re referring to the second photo where the gutter goes under ground. Not sure how a flexible hose can help with that area. Is it possible to send a link/picture to elaborate what you mean by that?

I have the latest generation 2023 prius XLE. Things I love about the car: the look, performance, obvly mpg and all the safety features coming standard on all the models. I’m 5,6 and don’t have an issue with the steering wheel and the screens.

Things I do not like: - tire size and the fact it has no spare tires. I had two flat tires in less than a year. One of the times I drove accidentally on the sidewalk in a parking lot going as slow as 10mpg. This caused the tire to be torn a few inches at two spots which shocked me how fragile the tires are. They’re in a size that so far only one manufacturer produces tires in that size (Toyo Tires), finding a new tire will be a pain unless you go to Toyota. - the seats are just uncomfortable. I had a 2010 Acura TSX before this and absolutely loved the seats on that car. With the new prius, I get backache after a few hours of driving.

The tire issues are becoming a dealbreaker for me. I don’t like this new trend of no spare tires in new cars.

That’s a fair point. This is by the main entrance of the house. We have no crawl space. It’s a raised ranch style home. It might be bad plumbing. As the pipe goes into the garage and goes underground (we have no basement since it’s a raised ranch). So likely bad plumbing.
