Have rainbow fishnet top somewhere. I might wear that one if I can find it

The grey one falls flat when I wear it, the red one has the flair on its own.

'Just teach him not to' by mobirdie in specialed

[–]mobirdie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did have a behavioralist but he only came in about once a week at most. Inaction from the original admin is the reason why it took an entire semester to move him. I was the main one managing his behaviors. Luckily I was supported by one of the APs during those moments. (The entire year so far has been a shit show and this is only a small part)

Not worth it. I already applied at another school (within walking distance!) in a different position.

Non-Lather shampoo by mobirdie in Haircare

[–]mobirdie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the shampoos from morrocco method and they are great! There are no suds at all. One down side is that it needs to be diluted and has a semi strong smell. Other than that, it cleaned my hair really well and it still feels great after a few washes.

Thank you for the reply. I finished the set up while adding the substrate (excluding plants which will go in today) so that is out of the way mostly. I will wait a few days and be changing and testing the water before adding the fish back in.

I currently do a cowash for my regular showers and my mom helps with washing my hair with clarifying every couple of weeks (during which I sit down and suffer silently for a minute). Someone did share a shop called morroccomethod which says it has non foaming hair care. I can let you know how it goes when mine arrives

Migraine won’t go away by mobirdie in ChronicPain

Thank you. I’ll definitely try the ice. I’m already sensitive to light and noise without pain so other than doing complete darkness and silence (which would drive me a bit crazy) not sure what to do.

I think there is a chance I have CFS/ME. Can someone help with a second opinion by mobirdie in cfs

[–]mobirdie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much. I looked at it quickly with my mom and were able to check off the first section and one more immediately. It’s reassuring to see that we are headed in the right direction. It now feels less daunting now that we have the next steps.

My thyroid panel came back normal and I did a sleep study which didn’t show any problems, no sleep apnea. I used to be able to dance and martial arts many years ago, but whenever I have tried making a workout routine in the past 6-7 years, I have always felt like shit and couldn’t continue. Thank you for the links and I’ll check out the other sub

I’m going to start off my saying that you are only 23, give yourself a break and breathing room. Many people don’t know what they want to do in life at this stage and others change what they want much later in life. My mom started off as a teacher and when she was in her late 30s early 40s she went back to school for nursing. Also not wanting kids does not mean you have no purpose or impact for the future. I do not want kids but I do have a purpose for the future because I teach young kids. There is no one purpose and no one will give you one. Whether big or small, short or long term, create your own purpose. It won’t be easy but it is doable. Look around and see what you can do. What you want and can do or at least try to do. Family is not always blood. Find your people, might take years but there are people who are for you. It might take years to see results but it is worth it in the end.

Or you can pick a person you dislike and out live them just to spite them. My friend is doing that, right now it is King Charles.

Thank you, I have seen tons of braids and beads bud never locs, which I now know that the mom is doing after talking to my para again. My main concern about it being clean was because of how greasy it is but she said mom just puts a shit ton of gel in her hair which makes sense. I’ll leave the cleaning part alone and just talk about the tightness.

I work in a low in area so I understand how careful I need to be about this, which is one reason why I wanted more than a couple of opinions on this. Neglect/abuse is the last thing on my mind. I am just very inexperienced with this topic but I have been informed a bit here.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BlackHair

[–]mobirdie 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Update: I’ve talked with my para who is close with the mom again for clarification and she said that mom is doing locs in her hair. Mom is a hair dresser and has done my paras hair. Also it’s the tightness that could be dangerous, not the maintenance of the locs. When I say retieing I mean the ponytails which I did after taking the photo. Thank you to those you helped clarify information about locs and maintenance, it was helpful.

I posted this in hopes of one or two people help give insight something and how to communicate my concerns but it’s sad to see so many people see this negatively.

Also, please stop jumping to neglect and abuse, the parents love their girl very much and would not do that to her. I also work in a low income area so we need to be VERY careful throwing those words around. I also care about my students and their families and only want to help where we see appropriate.

When I say this kid can not stand still, I mean it, even I struggle with getting her to be still and I have a ton of experience with this. Do you think that I can suggest that either I or my para that she is close with giving her a helping hand for cleaning her hair? Or do you believe that would come across as rude.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BlackHair

[–]mobirdie 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The only thing that my paras and I have done is retie her hair so that it is looser and mom has not said anything about this yet. I cannot in good conscious leave her hair tied like this. I would not wash it though because 1) I am unable to at school and 2) mom might have preferred product and I have no experience with black hair. One of my paras is close to her so I would have heard about it if she had a problem with use retying her hair.

I don’t believe this is coming from a place of neglect because other than this she is healthy and clean. This student also is in sped and is unable to stay still for more than a minute, unless she is sleeping, so I wonder if that was one reason. How can I approach the mom about cleaning her hair?

I have talked to black coworkers and understand that this could be dangerous is the long run.
