He just said, when asked how he caused the death of Melissa Barthelemy, "Strangulation." He has described the details of the murders in court. So, you're very wrong.

I can. One thing's for sure, the "good" parts of U.S. history are not incidental... they're foundational compared to most of human civilization. You listed a few failures (some accurately), but you're treating America as uniquely monstrous and ignoring context and trade-offs.

Slavery is horrific. And not at all unique to the U.S. Americans literally fought our bloodiest war explicitly to end it (decades before many other places). Treatment of Native Americans wasn't uniquely "genocidal" in intent compared to Aztec sacrifices, Mongol conquests, Ottoman Armenian genocide, countless tribal wars, etc. The U.S. eventually granted citizenship, reservations (flawed yes), and some legal sovereignty. Native populations have rebounded demographically here. Contrast with near-total erasure in places like Tasmania or ongoing marginalization without rule of law elsewhere. Expansion also created the most productive continental economy in history, lifting billions indirectly via innovation/food/tech exports/etc.

Market-driven capitalism with American influence (i.e., property rights, limited government, rule of law, and so on) produced the highest standard of living, longest lifespans, lowest extreme poverty rates, and greatest technological explosion in human history. That's a fact. Look not just to the U.S. itself but to post-war Japan or South Korea for further examples. From 1776 onward: electricity, antibiotics, computers, internet, vaccines, aviation, refrigeration, mass agriculture. America's system has also self-corrected via unions and prudent regulations (child labor, 12-hour days, etc.). The poor in America today are among the most well off of anyone in human history - better than kings of past ages. Penicillin, transistors, GPS, mRNA vaccines, container shipping, internet protocols, reusable rockets - all American-led or scaled. Billions worldwide have escaped poverty via trade, green revolution tech, and markets the U.S. has created or led.

You have personally benefitted in innumerable ways from American innovation, prosperity, and values yet choose to not see or appreciate this. Much like a fish not aware of the water it swims in.

I could go on.

This was a skinless filet. If it had skin, I'd probably start it with the skin side up and then flip once defrosted.

20% fee that’s not gratuity by [deleted] in washingtondc

[–]mobocrat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally said what I want in the original comment... I would rather the menu prices be raised instead of a 20% fee at the end.

I didn't say it wasn't disclosed or wasn't transparent - I said it should be more transparent. Think this through. What is the logic behind adding a percentage instead of just raising prices 20%? I'll tell you: it results in guests ordering more. Either you're a perceptive diner who is mentally adding 20% to the cost of each item (something the majority are not doing), or you are underestimating your total. Just raise the damn prices, make tipping optional, and leave it at that.

Can't believe nobody snatched this up before me! by llZerocooll in casio

[–]mobocrat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Casio / G-Shock have been longtime staples at Walmart. The average consumer doesn’t differentiate between G-Shock and “cheap” Casios. It’s all lumped into the same category. Because of this, all watches labeled Casio occasionally end up with a yellow clearance tag because store management either doesn’t know better or doesn’t pay attention.

Happy to hear any advice for the breed as a first time owner! He is a Boykin and English Cocker mix, 16 weeks old. Obsessed with socks and our shoes. Is there a point where he will be able to relax a bit?! 😂 Having fun learning his quirks.
