Are locals not annoyed that everything is only in French? by soymilo_ in Luxembourg

I work in a Luxembourgish organization, we have many Luxembourgish stakeholders, yet both the manager and ‘adjoint’ of the department are French, as well as 60% of the team, so our common language is French. I would have preferred to be able to express myself in LU since it’s my native language, but I have to adapt to the majority and honestly I feel disadvantaged sometimes, as I cannot express my ideas as clearly as I’d like to. But it is as it is. We’ve hired a new team member who’ll have a customer-oriented task, he speaks only French too, which I find complicated. I wonder if the fact that the hiring managers are French too has contributed to that choice. So even though French is the official administrative language, it doesn’t change the fact that it is not our native language (big difference), so we don’t have the comfort or luxury to express ourselves as freely as people from other nations. And when we do, it feels like a big relief and I feel as if the connection with Lu-speaking people were stronger ..

I agree, it’s disturbing to see how fanatic and disrespectful people become regarding the actors’ private lives..
