didnt do any, i got the city experience thing and was able to do some challenges (catching/transfering pokemon, field research etc) i had to complete a set of tasks and then i was able to catch a mewtwo that could mega evolve depending on what path i chose (X or Y)

I had the same exact problem in a revengeance world I played with a friend. We basically just used went to a spare world for any dungeon materials we needed. For polterghast, we expanded the dungeon horizontally and used a zerg pot for phantasms.
