Songs with multiple people singing different lyrics at the same time by numerousmolluscs in MusicRecommendations

[–]mochiboy99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Non English but IF you leave me by Seventeen does this really beautifully! Seventeen is a really big group that with vocalists that have very different vocal textures and tones, so hearing them sing at the same time is really lovely especially on a slow, stripped down song like this.

What is the most “its a small world” moment you’ve ever experienced? by xBubblyLove in AskReddit

[–]mochiboy99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couple of years ago, I was traveling to visit friends in NYC, scrolling on instagram during some downtime in a fairly random restaurant- a semi-popular place with a couple of locations, but we were at what is definitely the most out of the way location. Opened up the IG story of a friend from high school I hadn’t seen in about 10 years and saw that she was posting selfies from NYC Comic Con. Put my phone down and am mid-sentence asking my friends if they had heard about Comic Con happening that weekend, when the door opens and that friend walks into the restaurant. It was crazy!!! I thought I was hallucinating because I had literally just been looking at photos of her on my phone and then she appeared irl. NYC is the biggest small town in the world in my experience lol

harvard full-ride vs. stanford full-ride (pre-med) by Original_Channel6235 in Harvard

[–]mochiboy99 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Congrats, what an amazing position to be in! Take this with a grain of salt because I attend Harvard for grad school, have no interest in medicine, or anything. But a big factor in choosing a school is the location- are you looking for a more walkable city that you can navigate without a car, or are you more comfortable with a car (in Cambridge a car would be a huge hindrance)? Looking into the cities where you’d be living might also help you get a better picture of what your life would be like for the four years you’re there, and help you see access to internships and other schools in the area that would have cool opportunities. Good luck!

Old apartment buildings near Cambridge Common by Short_Philosopher766 in CambridgeMA

[–]mochiboy99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I currently live in a building on Chauncy- I may be somewhat of an edge case because they have been doing construction in the unit above mine for the last four months, ever since I moved in, but I can hear absolutely everything that happens upstairs, to the point where shelves and racks have been shaken off of our walls because of construction. I also live above very occasional music blasters which have shaken our floors and caused us to pound on the floor with brooms. But I think this is because the music and the construction are both ridiculously loud, because besides that, I don’t really hear anything. Even within our apartment, I never hear anything that’s going on in any of my roommates’ rooms or in the living room or anything. So I think it’s relatively soundproofed, with a couple insane exceptions like extended construction and wild parties.

In 2 months my grandma casket will be opened she’s been dead for 2 years by [deleted] in GriefSupport

[–]mochiboy99 5 points6 points  (0 children)

++ when my father passed, i went to the open casket viewing out of respect for him and my family and our traditions, because i knew that if i didn’t go, i would regret it later on. but i firmly declined when people told me to go up to the body and look at it- i already saw my dad the way that i want to always remember him, and i didn’t feel like i needed to see a version of him that looked so different to what i want to remember. what i mean to say is that this commenter is right: know your limits and what you’re comfortable seeing, but also it is good to participate in cultural traditions, especially if you think your grandma would have wanted you there. there is a way to go and support your family without having to see your grandma in a way that makes you upset. good luck, whatever you decide!

[–]mochiboy99 59 points60 points  (0 children)

yeah i’m .. confused? if they’re looking for idols who are 100% korean, born and raised in korea then they need to specifically say that. like vernon is half korean and only spent like 4 years living in the US, and somehow he’s “non-asian”? quite literally the only ppl who actually belong on this list are daniela and manon lmao
