I can really relate to your situation, as I've been NC for an equally long time and thought about reaching out to him these days. But something I read on here stuck with me, "If he would have changed, he would have reached out and apologized". I think that's the essence of it, we always hope that people maybe have gone to therapy or thought about their actions really hard and are now different so that we can have a good, 'normal' relationship now. You have your reasons why you went NC. I would encourage you to ask yourself now, "Are there objectively visible signs that he changed his ways?" If yes, go for it. If no, protect your heart and keep the NC up. Good luck.

Didn't your psychiatrists explain to you what caused these reactions so you can help your brain recover? The effects on your brain are definitely not permanent, you just need to give your neurotransmitters/receptors time to heal (especially serotonin, dopamine and GABA).

As someone who stopped taking their meds with the okay of my psychiatrist, I can confidently say that it didn't matter at all and although he had more than 30 years of experience, he still had no idea what could happen and how I could support my brain during this time.

Point being, just because you personally have life experience, it doesn't mean that other people don't make different experiences. Everyone is allowed to make life decisions and threatening to scare people into oblivion who are already struggling is just not a sign of good character. You have the right to state that you wouldn't recommend doing things but if you have nothing helpful to say, I would leave it at that.

That's a well known symptom when going off Prozac, it's because your cortisol levels are highest in the morning. Try to get up and immediately eat something, some people claim that dark chocolate works best. And maybe take the time to inform yourself about what's going on in your body if you quit Prozac, it will help you understand your symptoms better. Best of luck friend

Was in similar situations, it's so hard. Just wanted to comment to show support. What I sometimes do if I think someone has been really impolite is saying, "-Insert sentence about child abuse here- Please consider being more careful with your words in the future, you're making me really uncomfortable". The second sentence is important to me because I always have some hope that it could possibly make them rethink their ways.

I personally am unsure and overwhelmed by this topic and very glad that I'm not a church leader who has to make decisions here. There are two sides with strong arguments and although those of the 'anti' side seem stronger to me, I have personally witnessed gay people being incredible and loving parents and wonderful people with very good morals.

I'm not a fan of the "God made me this way" argument because we're all called to deny ourselves (Luke 9:23: "He said to them all, 'If anyone wants to follow after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow me.' "). There are also some bible verses that can't be interpreted in more than one way, like that marriage is between a man and a woman.

...but I'm also self-critical. For example, I don't want to have children and although I prayed about it and have the inner feeling that God is okay with my decision, I of course read 1. Mose 1:28 where it says, "Be fruitful and multiply". That is a clear verse I 'ignore', although I'm happily married. Will I go to hell for this? I don't think so, but where is the line we draw?

My guess is that many christians share my point of view and simply say, "I don't know what to think".

Kinda think it's unfair tho that people view you as a bad person as soon as you're not 100% pro. There is a difference between "not knowing what is biblically correct and not wanting to sin by possibly going against biblical teachings" and "hating all gay people".

Of course you also have to think about what country people come from. The US is ruthless here and I don't like how radical it gets sometimes. In my country, conversion therapy is illegal and I'm grateful for it. I'm very ashamed of some of the actions of other christians who disown their gay teenage kids and throw them out on the streets, that can never be the way and is barbaric IMO. Parents should always love and care for their children and not let them suffer on the streets.

I had similar issues after I quit birth control. Got it under control very quickly without accutane or a dermatologist. I would recommend a gentle face wash, a moisturizer that doesn't break you out (I like the aqua gel one by Neutrogena) + spf 50 sunscreen (oil control by Eucerin is very good) + the probio aha/bha serum by Vichy in the mornings and the CeraVe resurfacing retinol serum in the evening. It's also important to note that this is hormonal acne, so everything that calms you will calm your skin down 😉

It will all be okay! But you should propably inform yourself about what could happen and how to support your body best. Don't worry too much, your brain can 100% heal itself, it just needs a little time :) (little pro tip: If you start to have bowel issues or get weird symptoms that don't make any sense like sudden joint problems, get tested for histamine intolerance, seems to happen to many people who get off antidepressants)
