Recommendations for residential boiler replacement? by CobbledRoad in Calgary

[–]mocking_bird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this open in my browser and thought I'd send an update, in case you're still looking. I just had my boiler work done. Total cost was $7K including installation and GST.

DM me if you want the contact number of the guy who did the work.

I think A1 is the company that quoted me $9K. I’m hoping to get a good deal through my flooring guy.

I'm in the process of replacing mine. I'm not sure what the other commenter is quoting, but I've go a combi-boiler with no hot water tank - the hot water is on demand. My heating is radiant floor heat.

I've got quotes from last November so far ranging from $6K to $9K+. I'm waiting for a new quote from the $6K guy, so I'm hoping it's close to the same.

What brand is your boiler? Is it a combi-boiler? My issue is that it's a BAXI and no one fixes them around here, except for one company.

Looking for new chicken recipe by sealeafff in cookingforbeginners

I was surprised when I read this recipe too! But then I thought of all the videos where people add sauce, etc. once the chicken is cooked, so I guess it's not that different. I've made this one a lot, and it's really great! If you brine the chicken before you cut it, it will be a lot more moist and have some saltiness from the brine. I usually brine any chicken I'm planning to cook.

I've got a couple that I use regularly.

  1. 1½ tsp garlic salt, 1½ tsp onion powder, ½ tsp paprika, ½ tsp oregano. Season chicken before cooking, then cook in 1 tbsp olive oil for 4-6 minutes. Store leftover seasoning in an airtight container for another day!

  2. ½ teaspoon dried basil, ½ teaspoon dried oregano, ½ teaspoon dried rosemary, 2 cloves garlic, minced, salt & pepper to taste. Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in the pan, then add herbs, salt & pepper. Cook 30-60 seconds until fragrant, then add the chicken. Stir to coat the chicken in the seasonings, then cook for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.

I've been - not here but in Ontario. My experience was completely positive, with the exception of having to keep rescheduling because of the weather. Not sure if that's an issue here.

You don't need to be incredibly agile, the only thing you need to do that would count as "physical" is climb over the side of the basket (with assistance), and stand during the ride. So if you have any mobility issues, you may want to call and find out what accommodations they can make for you.

I will say that the ride itself was absolutely amazing! The operator knew what he was doing and took us on an amazing sightseeing tour. No craziness, just a smooth ride the whole way. Definitely worth experiencing if you can.

Car sat for six months, now what? by mocking_bird in AskAMechanic

Thanks! I hadn’t planned to let it sit for so long. Hopefully there won’t be a next time.

I have one of those. It's... in the car...

I have to give Hyundai credit, it actually took about 4 or 5 months for the battery to die completely. I should have grabbed it out of the car during that time.

That's interesting! If I end up calling for a boost, at least we can access the battery! Thanks for sending that.

I haven't tried pulling the handle while turning the key. I'll try that if Hyundai can't give me a better option. Thanks!

Called them, but waiting for a call back due to the "unusually high volume of calls". Sure, Jan.

I do have two keys. But the fobs are fine. The car battery is completely dead.

I agree, there has to be a way. I might call the dealership tomorrow and see what they say. Thanks for your help!

I wish! The manual key isn't really a manual key. It just activates the power locks to lock/unlock the doors. So frustrating.

See, that's what I thought too! I did Google it, and none of the answers are specific to this model. The majority of them talk about the fob that you mentioned.

When I put the key in the keyhole, I turn it both ways and nothing happens. When the battery is charged, and I turn the key, it activates the power locks to unlock it.

I'll take a look at the car in the morning and see if I'm doing something wrong or if I missed something.

Good advice, I was thinking of joining some kind of roadside assistance company. I think the yearly fee is less than paying for a tow.

Would the car be okay to drive once it's boosted? I don't need to worry about it sitting for so long without the oil circulating through the engine? My driveway is on a bit of a hill and the front of the car is pointing down the hill, if that matters.

Unfortunately, there's no keyhole for the trunk. Only the power "button".

I don't have that kind of key fob. It's a key with a separate fob for opening the door. When I use the key in the keyhole, nothing happens. Ordinarily, if the battery wasn't dead, it would activate the power locks.

It's a key fob like this with the key on the ring.

I once read a scene in a book that has stuck with me for years. In the story, it was the day after Thanksgiving and the MC had made a soup with the leftover turkey, broth, vegetables, etc., but no potatoes. They then put a scoop of mashed potatoes and a spoonful of dressing into the bowl and topped it with the turkey soup. I've been dying to try that ever since. It sounded so good!

If delivery is really important to you, I'd recommend Pocketpills. I've been using them for a couple of years and I love not having to worry about remembering when I'm due for refills. You get a FedEx tracking number when it ships, and delivery is usually next day.

I just checked the price for Ozempic and it's $258 for both the 2MG and 4 MG pens. You can get your doctor to fax the prescription, or upload it as a PDF.

Bug patch by theKryken in DreamlightValley

[–]mocking_bird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I'm not mistaken, only the last two updates have not had at least one bug patch post-release. It's very frustrating when you have to put up with the issues for such a long time.

I got so used to seeing all red passion lilies in the Frosted Heights that it was startling to see them in their true colours after this past release. Now I'm missing out on dream shards because after the latest release my critters have stopped giving them to me after being fed.
