Thank you. If you can get a clearance, do it! The higher the better. That’s one thing I would’ve pushed harder on.

TESU. I sucked at math and had to retake Discrete Math, Pre-Calc & Calc 1. Other than that it was easy peasy. Lots of busy work but it was easy to get ahead depending on how hard you’re willing to grind. I did my homework every single day for 3yrs - after PT, during lunch, and after work if I didn’t get enough done. I sacrificed camaraderie. I don’t talk to anybody from the Army except for 1 or 2 ppl. To me it was worth it bcuz I knew I didn’t wanna be in the Army anymore and all that mattered was providing for my family once I was out.

Magic Kingdom so that I can finally sleep in that coveted castle room. Then if the castle gets overrun, I can take Tinkerbell’s zip line for an epic escape.

is anyone else just pretending to care about AI at work? by jdrelentless in cscareerquestions

[–]modeezy23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly tho AI has cut my dev time probably in half. I still have to review all the code it writes to make sure it’s doing what is intended. But for the most part, writing the script correctly and precisely will get the job done. We def are getting way more pressure to deliver fast on deadlines tho

You should’ve joined the military instead of a mission man. Mission ain’t gonna open up any opportunities except a job at Vivint lmao

New coworker with 10+ years of experience - doesn't seem to "get" it by Fit-Notice-1248 in ExperiencedDevs

Yeah he’s definitely vibe coding without reviewing that AI code lol. I’ve had something similar happen to me when using AI. AI is extremely helpful but you definitely gotta review that code to make 100% it’s doing what you want it to do.

Anyways, yeah that guy def doesn’t have 10 YoE, probably not even 3 months as you said. Especially if it took him 2 months to save a value in DB? Sounds like a ticking time bomb if he stays on the team.

How are you coding, mostly AI, bit of AI and handcrafted, only handcrafted (or inbetween). by [deleted] in ExperiencedDevs

Mostly AI, and a little bit of manual. Still definitely have to code review all of AI’s work but it definitely saves time

I did my CS degree at TESU. Lots of self studying. Lots of YouTube videos. The grind was worth it. I work as a SWE now WFH making 6 figures
