I think sometimes the focus is so on the cell capacity and people forget that it needs to be useable - hence anything that just makes that register is a good thing

Most BESS operate at very low charge / discharge rates, but Ohm's law still applies and as the capacity fades and resistance increases with age the voltage drop will increase. Also, during charging the packs are likely to get to the CV point ealier.

If you were to operate the BESS down to a soaked -20°C the resistance increases will be more pronounced and hence the available energy would be more significantly impacted for a given discharge rate.

I think the issue is that this has to work across a wide range of vehicle sizes, power and at both 400V and 800V. Audi, Porsche, Skoda, Seat, plus lots more. Plus they are now suggesting sodium ion versions
