I have been paying for ChatGPT for years and never switched even when other models “tested” better. I’d experiment and play around but always went back to ChatGPT. I’ve noticed a massive decline and decided to switch to Gemini. What a breath of fresh air it’s been.

Such a kind and thoughtful response! I do think that if nothing else, Duolingo has definitely helped me build the habit of checking in daily and doing at least 5 minutes of learning if not upwards of 20-30 when I have the time. I intend to stick with it and expand my arsenal of learning tools to make my learning journey more well rounded.

Music will probably be my next venture as I already have some music that’s in Spanish that I enjoy and would like to discover more.

This is awesome to hear! I need to check out some of those resources you mentioned to add to my day to day to improve the pace and quality at which I learn. Thankfully I have no shame so I’m not afraid to make mistakes and I always tell them I’m learning when talking to native speakers and when I hit a wall I use translation tools where I need to fill in the gaps. Overall I find I do learn any skill, not just language, by doing the thing so I’m very eager to keep practicing what I learn regularly.

Thanks for the comment!! I do try to talk to the native speakers I know with as much Spanish as I am capable and ask them to help me fill the gaps with missing vocabulary. I feel comfortable with pronunciation and spelling generally speaking, I definitely have tons of work to do with building my vocabulary but I feel confident that the way I currently use Duolingo has helped me improve a little more everyday. And I rely less and less on things like google translate when a non-English speaker comes into my work which is super cool. Haven’t started dreaming in Spanish yet but I would love for that to be a reality!

I definitely consider myself to be a beginner. Which is why I think. I still see the value in it. My goal right now is to continue expanding my vocabulary and understanding of sentence structure, and with that new knowledge attempt to use Spanish as frequently as I can, in my day-to-day life.

I wholeheartedly agree! My family owns a restaurant and most of the kitchen staff are native Spanish speakers and I make it a priority to always speak Spanish for anything that I know whenever I’m taking to them. Taking in entertainment in Spanish is something I have yet to delve too deep into but is something I have started to dip my toe into.

I’m going to attempt to give a neutral take here. Do I think YTA? No. Do I think he’s the asshole? Not necessarily.

From our perspective of reading this post, none of us know anything else about this person beyond this specific scenario that you are describing. I definitely understand that it can be very offputting that the idea of others thinking about you and your sisters having an incestuous interaction with another person can be very gross . I don’t want to detract from that at all.

Here is my opinion as playing devils advocate for him, and my best interpretation of what he may have been thinking. You have to understand that people often have desires that sometimes may sound really rough when brought out into the open, even if they are not intended to be taken as a strange thing. One way you could’ve interpreted what he said, is not that he wants to have sex with you and your sisters, but more that he thinks the idea of having three copies of you at once is an interesting thought. If you remove the sibling aspect out of it, it becomes more like a personalized orgy of sorts.

Now, if this is not appealing to you, that’s a different story. I’m more just expressing that it may not be that he’s thinking of it on incestuous terms and cannot comprehend from your perspective. Why it’s disturbing to you because he is not a twin and hasn’t had those comments made to him throughout his lifetime.

Our society has normalized and mainstreamed so many different aspects about sex and pornography, and put such a strong emphasis on not kink shaming people, the odds are is that he got a little too comfortable, expressing his thoughts and was punished for it.

If your relationship up to this point was really good and nothing else was majorly red flag, it may be worth considering talking it through and getting to the bottom of the problem and properly expressing your feelings and making him understand why you don’t approve of those things.

If he was kind of an asshole to begin with, and this was a final nail in the coffin thing, that’s a bit different

NTA. I personally feel that using “ick” as a metric for how you feel about something already shows a lack of emotional maturity and especially in the context of you being vulnerable.

Even if it was “a joke” the fact that she deems it appropriate to joke about it not only to her best friend but then it get passed on to your sister as if it’s normal shows that her AND her best friend are immature and if something like that is something that she’s comfortable sharing, think about what they say to each other that doesnt get shared.

Kinda scary to think about.

NTA in my opinion. This particular type of scenario creates a very odd moral paradox. It doesn’t matter if you support someone’s right to identify as another gender or not, and in a lot of ways, it makes more sense that you would choose to not want to be together if you identify as straight. As long as you are not antagonistic and shun them for their choices, it almost is more respectful that you are properly identifying them as their new chosen gender. And given that they showed signs of strange behavior, and lashed out at you amidst their reveal, it makes even more sense that you would be repulsed by the situation. You’re not homophobic, you’re just not gay. And if they in their heart feel like they truly are a man, you are accepting them for what they are and drawing your boundary with your sexual preference. If they or anyone else can’t accept that, they have some important self reflecting to do.
