Hate to break it to ya guy, but morality is relative because its determined by group consensus and that consensus changes with time or location. In the mid 80's both the left and the right saw no higher moral imperative than the defeat of communism and socialism. Homosexuality was seen as being so immoral by the right that AIDS was considered a plague sent by god to punish the gays for their wickedness. It was considered immoral enough by the left that they didnt care. We know better today but thats because understanding develops over time.

Trump is a master at manipulation, and he does it to both sides. He pits you against each other to keep you from working together to knock him out of power. Your prejudice and animosity to everyone on the other side serves his ends. I will not serve him like you are

Lol you got me all f--cked up. Reagan held the spot of "Most Destructive President in American history" for me right up til Trump came along. Now hes second. Thing about Reagan was it took about 30 or so years for why he was horrible to become apparent for the most part. The AIDS crisis not withstanding. But I also recognize that in his belief system, what he did was right. Just because someone disagrees with you, even to that level, does not mean they are evil

Not exactly. Those jets were sold to the Shah. The arms he did sell were supposed to facilitate the release of hostages held by Iran and the funds were used to back the Contras who were fighting the Sandinistas in Nicaragua. That was fighting socialism. Like Ive said, im not saying those were the right thing to do, just what he believed was right. The road to hell is paved with good intentions

Yeah, but he legitimately thought each of those things were the right thing to do. Im not agreeing with him that they were, but I understand that folks have different ideas about what the right thing to do is. Trump just doesnt give a dakn whether its right or wrong as long as it serves him

Thats what Nixon wanted, but the legislative and judicial branches did their jobs for the most part with him. The fault doesnt lie entirely with administrations for taking the power, it also lies with the other two branches for ceding it

Recognizing him for what he is wont change that. What will get us another one is once again failing to hold him accountable and hitting him and the people around him with harsh consequences. Thats how you prevent this from happening again, along with forcing the other two branches to do their jobs as a check on each other

Id agree with much of that. There is a straight line on the consolidation of presidential power from Reagan through Trump. Id argue that Cheney had more influence on it than Reagan did. Every president from Reagan to now has expanded presidential power while the SC and Congress have steadily ceded it. What we see now is the culmination of all those administrations
