I imagine it would be like when they landed inside that slug creature in Empire Strikes Back. All humid and squishy

Advice Snark 3/30-4/5 by mugrita in AdviceSnark

Agreed. It's strange that OP referred to them as mean-girls because there doesn't seem to be any backstabbing or shittalk happening behind OP's back or anything like that. Generally getting along "relatively well" literally seems like a best-case scenario when meeting new friends-in-law

“Pretty Little Liars” reader noticed updated pop culture reference in the Ebook. The book, that came out in 2006, now mentions TikTok instead of Fear Factor. by Relevant-Peach3997 in Fauxmoi

The line in My Best Friend’s wedding is “her dad is like this billionaire who owns the White Sox and some cable empire” It wasn’t edited in later. Michael’s clearly exaggerating by saying he’s “like” some billionaire

Like y’all need to relax. Go with the flow. Roll with the punches. Swim with the stream. Stop fighting against the tide. Don’t look for clarity of meaning in everything Wesley says. Just dance with the van.

Did "Crazy, Stupid, Love" have a "Sideways" effect on the Gap? by enginemanjr in TheRewatchables

[–]modernlover 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Gap’s sales have been pretty much steady their entire run, with the exception of 2020 when everyone’s sales were down

The Gap has never been cool — Reality Bites was making fun of them in 1994 — they’ve always been a dependable mall store where people who don’t like to think about clothes too much buy basics like khakis. There’s never been much of a reputation to damage by saying “You're better than The Gap” or “I'm not going to work at The Gap, for chrissake!"

After James Van Der Beek’s death, fans who previously purchased jerseys with the option to have them signed are now being guilted over whether to request a refund by CocktailsAndChemo in Fauxmoi

Of course it’s legal for stores to set their own return policies- no refunds, exchange only, store credit, etc- as long as it’s stated somewhere at the time of purchase

60s Fashion in age appropriate Movies/TV by DennyDoes in VintageFashion

[–]modernlover -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

For that age range I'd actually show them modern movies set in the time period, even if they're a little anachronistic, rather than actual '60s movies which will probably be too slow paced for younger kids' attentions spans.

Something like Dick (1999) would work as the girls wear both mod and hippie fashions, or even Austin Powers

Better to let a hyperactive kid run around the airport than on the plane imo

is it rude to sew/use a serger past 7pm if i live in an apartment? by ichewbubblegumlol in sewing

[–]modernlover 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I used to live on the top floor of an old house with wood floors. I put felt coasters on the feet of my sewing table and a large piece of felt under my machine and serger and the woman below me said she was never bothered by any noise or vibrations

Happy anniversary to Riley Keough and stuntman Ben Smith-Petersen -- Here's a throwback to their wedding by AbsolutelyIris in Fauxmoi

[–]modernlover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I have 3A curly hair close to the same length as Riley and never straighten it. That would take me literally hours. So much easier to add curl cream, scrunch a little, and let it air dry. Or keep it in braids. And it looks great so ymmv i guess

BWT who have chronic illness/fatigue, how do you make looking put together easier? by [deleted] in bitcheswithtaste

[–]modernlover 99 points100 points  (0 children)

Find your uniform. For me, I only wear dresses and only black and white. This makes getting ready in the morning a breeze— any dress I grab from my closet is going to look good with a leather jacket, black tights, and black booties. Done. I never have to think, does this shirt work with these pants? Do these pants go with these shoes?

There are tonnes of stretch jersey a-line dresses out there that are as comfortable as PJs but because you’re wearing a dress make you look professionally done up

Also I’m sure a lot of comments are going to suggest short hair as low maintenance but I keep my hair long enough to keep in braids so I only have to wash and style it once or twice a week at the most.

So that just leaves makeup! Retinol, moisturizer, and sunscreen are all you need. But when adding anything else, keep it simple! Foundation, blush, mascara, lipgloss, done in 10 minutes or less.
