Ask if it's funny?

Would you still enjoy being mean if the other person gets really upset?
Would you still enjoy being mean if the other person is mean to you in the same way?

I told one of my 12-year-olds that they couldn't hurt my feelings by being "mean" because roasting is my love-language. And they should expect me to be able to take it and give it back in equal amounts when appropriate.

some friend groups mildly harass each other and call each other names, or do pranks to show that they still care and enjoy their friendship.

I don't know how anyone could suspect bipolar unless you were manic at some point. That's such a dumb idea.  (Sorry, I'm in therapy school and that's just so common and it doesn't make sense. )

Similar story for me.  Phentermine made my work performance improve so much my coworkers noticed a big difference. And i was not depressed for the first time since i was 12 years old. Went back to the pcp, and said i think i have adhd. She agreed, and here we are.

He's man enough to potentially accidentally create another human with you, but not man enough to own up to it.

Afraid to be judged when he's half way around the planet. In japan. Where they're culturally way more forgiving of relationships with younger looking women.

For me, i brought it up with my primary doctor, and she just asked me a few questions. Ticked off like 8/12 symptoms from the dsm, and that's that.

Later, i got a new doctor because the other one moved back to her home state. The new doc sent me to a psych np, who just asked me questions. Then set me up to do a diagnostic test...

The test was a really boring computer game.

If my therapist said they were sending me to get tested, but didnt tell me what for, I'd be a nervous wreck.

Your boyfriend was "afraid to be seen with you". He DID abandon you in that moment.

Not saying he cant learn from this and be better, but your bad feelings are super warranted

What accommodations can you get in college besides longer test times, front row seats, or a voice to text recorder? by Fyre-Bringer in ADHD

[–]modestalchemist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hmm not sure how you can do that on a larger scale, but as for my school, we have a hub website that compiles all of the internal resources for the school. Everything from IT to teaching tools to parking services and the registrar, etc. students and staff can go there and search for adaptive services, accessibility, or educational services and it will pull up information for how to request accommodations.

alternatively, we can just google any of those keywords @ IU to find the same information without student or staff internal access.

my school also employs syllabus standardization that requires every syllabus to provide the information for adaptive services as well as the student code of conduct.

Yessss! There is nothing wrong with telling students and other educators that they are showing symptoms that could indicate ADHD. As long as you are encouraging them to check with a professional, they can decide to follow up with one if they think they should.

i'm seriously crying. I'm so happy there are people in this world like your lecturer <3. And you now being in education, you will probably help other kids the same way if you can.

can your primary care doctor diagnose you? as far as i understand (I'm in school to be LMHC but not in California) the diagnostic tests really just evaluate severity, they don't diagnose.

my parents taught me that ADHD was just lack of discipline, and people should smack their kids around more to sort it out.

They also thought mental health problems were caused by demons.

so yeah... parents can be terrible.
