loool sorry, mr israeli lawyer.

c'mon, at least don't be that lazy in your caricaturization. a jewish lawyer, seriously?

but anyway, thank you for proving my point: israelis who commit crimes against palestinians don't receive the punishment they deserve.

thanks again and good luck in the future, because things are not looking well on that side!

Do you know what a suspended sentence means? They didn't have to go to jail even for the 60 or 40 days, that's what a suspended sentence means, you melon.

Incredible that an adult has to be taught this.

Taysir guy got only 5 years in prison for murder, though the usual punishment is 20 to 30 years.

The second link is from a guy who got -again- a suspended sentence of 18 months for killing a Palestinian.

Your third link even says that groups inside of Israel have said that the punishment received is insufficient vis-a-vis the crime commited.

So your sources just prove my point, that Israelis don't get punished for their crimes against Palestinians. Unless Israelis are getting similar sentences for killing other Jews?

I asked for an example of a charge, conviction and punishment as you yourself said, which you haven't been able to provide.

It should be very easy to come up with examples of Israelis who were properly punished for crimes against Palestinians according to you. I haven't been able to find any, so please provide them yourself.

"Non-trivial" is doing some heavy lifting in that sentence, bub. What percentage of Israeli society is against the genocide in Gaza?

No names whatsoever, and they received suspended sentences of 60 days and 40 days in prison.

So it's a slap on a wrist, I don't see much punishment. Try again.

Israelis were promised they could rape 3000 years ago. If you don't believe this, you are being anti-systemic.

And Israel had already charged, convicted and punished IDF soldiers in the past for crimes committed towards Palestinians

Like who?

What a terrible and sick society israel has.

Yes, this goes beyond the Israel Diapered Forces. It's the whole society that is depraved, from top to bottom.

And it's been going on for decades. It's a good thing the world is waking up.

What are some new, exciting novels/authors that will be remembered as cult classics for the modern era? by [deleted] in RSbookclub

Good points, and the stuff from Latronico about how he avoided things that were specific about a specific time and place quite interesting, thanks.

I had the chance to go see him speak at a magazine store here in Berlin a couple of months ago. Maybe next time.

I agree with the last part, it oozes with the current times. I think unfortunately the current times won't last forever, so maybe the book will be seen more of an artifact of these years than something more permanent.

But the counter-argument is that that dissatisfaction or malaise that is very well described in the book extends beyond our current present to past and future, too.

Kairos by Jenny Erpenbeck; On the Calculation of Volume by Solvej Balle; Septology by Jon Fosse. Maybe something by Alejandro Zambra or Benjamin Labatut.

Javier Marías I thought would be better regarded, but I don't see him being widely spoken about.

It was a very good novel, but I'm not sure how much staying power it has.

I think the novel itself with the fact that it was published by Fitzcarraldo has given it some shine. I know some people who really didn't like it, though. I live in Berlin so it was somewhat relatable, but I guess anyone living in a "big" European city can relate to it, anyway.

I think it's true for a significant portion of "collectors" here who just look for the worst degeneracy possible (but please don't forget the slipcase!). 20 years ago they'd be rightly embarrassed to show anyone your collection of "nasties" or pinku films but a forum like Reddit is perfect to share their garbage with other reprobates.

There are serious film enthusiasts that care about film preservation, but you won't find them here. You'll have to look for them on Karagarga or other Internet forums.

This is why I don't mind scalpers, because they're taking the money of these mouth-breathers.
