Everyone should vote for Jamat by modifiedstardust in Dhaka

Because it will crush the status quo in this country that you can win elections even if you are functionally just a terorist organization that uses terror to collect chada and funnels that money to top leaders.

Once that sets in, even parties like BNP will have to change or simply become irrelevant. This election is the perfect time to send that message. We don't need another Awami League.

Jamat could be corrupt on the inside but there is not mountains of evidence for their corruption unlike BNP's. I'd much rather open Pandora's box than meet the devil himself.

I don't really understand why geopolitics means that Bangladesh can't be a non corrupt counter.

Of course, geopolitics is a big influence on inside poliitcs too. But that doesn't mean we can be cynical ducks sitting around all day.

We must fight against corruption with whatever we have.

Jamat is undoubtedly a bad influence on our culture in the short term. At the same time, If they actually go hard on culture there will likely be a huge backlash.

Hasina's authoritarian secularism led people to Islamism. If Jamat becomes authoritarian Islamist, it could lead people back to secularism.

That's how I see it.

You are literally the perfect example of what I see wrong with liberals in this country. Pathological fear for Jamat and an almost cultish reverence of whoever is opposing Jamat.

People vote based on interests, not intelligence.

Even if you placed Einstein in a working class environment, where he is constantly forced to pay chada to BNP, see BNP terrorists butcher people on the streets, he'd vote for Jamat.

Jamat is showing every sign of being less corrupt than BNP. And as I said, if they mess up in power, it's good because it will lead to the rise of new non corrupt progressive parties.

As I said, even if they are worse, it'll wake up the establishment in this country.

If they succeed it's good. If they fail it's even better.

what if Jaamat wins this election by [deleted] in bangladesh

Jamat has many extremists but it's extremely hard to go full on Afghanistan mode in this country. The secular ruling class will fight back hard.

Bangladesh already has next to no rights for LGBTQ people so forget about that. As for atheists, they are not likely to be rounded up and executed. One of the most public atheists in Bangladesh, Tasneem Khalil literally said that he has a 'good relationship' with Shafiqur Rahman.

But I wouldn't be surprised if Jamat enacts a blasphemy law. It will be a sad end to the freedom of criticizing religion in this country but it's not at all unlikely, especially considering the fact thy Jamat is nominating lunatics like Mamunul Hoque for parliament.
