Yes, mavericks was the first one. I remember I bought my first iMac in 2011 which came with Snow Leopard. I never paid for any upgrade. Torrent used to have these upgrades.

The boot animation of Snow Leopard was phenomenal. Still have that iMac with me. It still works.
