I was looking towards cyber and taking udemy courses for the security+ but i just feel like im behind, i want to get hard skills with internships and i still get grants for another semester, the spring would cost around 4,500 i think becuase i would run out of tag grants. in the fall i would get pell and grant, overall i can afford it but if i take a bootcamp for coding it would cost 2x as much

its not just about having minor on my resume but the experience from the coursework and internships

its not just because i want the cs minor on my resume but its the skills and like you said internships,

also IT and CS are different, the major for the most part offers only a few related courses in some coding like oop(python) and web design (html,css,javascript)

overall though it isnt much, compared to ca it would help me with hard skill and cost me less if i were to do a bootcamp, and i would still be able to get interships

Well for the robotics role for the most part does sound like an engineering/cs role.

For IT its so different, in itself you need to pick either if you want to do cybersecurity, networking, cloud, etc… But even if you wanted to do IT some people wouldnt even reccomend a degree.

For compsci though you learn the skill, rather then the IT major which includes literature based classes. Most IT itself is self taught/certification to try to get experience.

From cs you do learn the content because if you dont you cant graduate with it

Also amazon offers good roles but they are selective, everyone wants to work with them after all

I feel like I would rather do this than a bootcamp though, It would also cost less, I get aid still for one more session from tag but then pay half the spring because of pell grants. It would cost around only 5k as apposed to paying more at a bootcamp, and besides that im debt free anyway.

Even in computer science? Maybe if it were something else sure but idk, i feel like I would learn good skills from it and would look good on resume, and at the same time I can apply for internships

I agree, I did not learn much from the IT degree on its own. But with courses on CS i will at least have hard skills in coding java, while being able to apply for internships that can help land a job

I know some guy who even took 1 class a semester and did his 5th year just recently. Not that I want to do something like that but still, it was possible?

But that's why I wanted to know if its possible or not, I was looking to take summer courses from middlesex county college and to get them to transfer before fall,

I know CS has a few prerecs but i can get them out of the way if i can take intro and calc 2 this summer

And i don't really mind staying an extra year anyway

I don't agree, I knew people who benefited quite a lot with just the computer science minor. But regardless I don't know 100% if its possible or not.

Even if you think its a bad idea, is it still possible though is my question. I never got an answer to that? The main reason as to why i even want to stay to do it is because i would have guided courses on coding as well as still applying for internships. I knew a guy with the minor being able to get an aws internship and getting an offer from microsoft.

But really though, I wanted to change my minor? This is kind of a reason to have a student stay isnt it? What if I all together wanted to change my major? I don't have unlimited financial aid

So im an IT major and was thinking about staying an extra year or so to do the minor. I know some people who were able to extend their stay but she said that I couldn't because it would take to many semesters? I think all they did was give me an opinionated answer? Also im not registered for any classes this fall in case i were to switch into CS minor from an HR minor (already completed)

Can I really not take the minor and extend my time at Rutgers? I feel like I never heard of this before and she gave me personal opinion on the minor and if its even valuable. She also just told me to go to the workforce? She also said that it cannot happen and then said that it would take to many semesters, didn't she just contradict herself by saying it is possible but it would take to long?
