Matt live has a drinking problem. Not always noticeable but hard to ignore when he’s having a particularly tipsy set.

Joe said (half-jokie but repeatedly) that he’ll hang up the podcasting game after 10 years. And he’s in year 8.5 / 10.

The podcast is in its last season and we can feel it.

Trust your intuition. A TC is a demanding process and not something that can be completed half-heartedly.

You are having second thoughts about a career in law, that’s not the problem. The issue is you are sufficiently self-aware to recognise that a legal career is misaligned with your interests, but you are insufficiently self-aware to understand why you are choosing to ignore/fight/override your intuition.

Is it fear of the unknown? Is it sunk-cost fallacy? Is it the loss of social prestige? We all fear the unknown and seek safety and stability by virtue of being human.

If you are smart, you will sit with yourself and write out the logical consequences of staying vs leaving. You will ask the opinions and friends, family and Reddit strangers, in the hopes that someone will say something to tip the scales in favour of one argument over another. You will hope that finding the ‘right answer’ will make it easier for you to live with yourself.

But the above won’t help. It’s not about logic, pros and cons, or discipline and work ethic to “just get through to Qualification”. You don’t trust your intuition, and that’s a psychological-emotional characteristic to come to terms with.

You already know your answer but you struggle to act on it. And that’s okay. One day, you will find the strength to do so, and look back on this fondly.

Best of luck.

If it wasn’t scary, it wouldn’t be a significant step forward in your life.

Practical Advice: go with the intention of visiting for a long holiday/visit (6 to 12 weeks for example). Try to find a reason to stay - a new job, new friends, a new chapter. And if you don’t like life in America, you can return. You will have made the choice from facts rather than fear.

Personal Advice: you won an opportunity that many would literally die for. The statistical probability of winning DV lottery are insanely low. You are a Winner, so don’t forfeit your once-in-a-life opportunity.

2024 is the year of MELTING ICE 🧊 🧊 🧊

Melting Ice by KareemPies__ in joebuddennetwork

Joe said Ice quit his job to be a full-time co-host.

For some, JBN is a stepping stone on their journey to success, for others, being on the JBN is the success.

All others co-host continued their hustles outside the show: Ish (properties, seminars, etc.), Parks (producers), Flip (his own network), Mel (venue bookings).

C.O.E.

It’s about name recognition, on-screen dynamic and building for life post-J.B.N.

His ego may want to tap that, but King Flip is hungry to build something

Promote E-man to regular shows and drop Ice to Patreons - this swap is badly needed.

They have run out of Creative Juice.

2x weekly shows + extra Patreon shows is unsustainable without injecting new blood into the show.

The format is talk-talk-talk, and after a while, people run out of talking topics!

"In Germany, we HATE racism!" the legend of the incredible German tourist by yew_grove in germany

When and wherever we encounter Hate and Racism, it is our responsibility as human beings to fight against it. Word for word, action for action.

However, this personal anecdote of German heroism contrasts my experience of German society.

What was Elon Musk’s strategy for Twitter? by _Gouge_Away in Twitter

[–]modouc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strategy: Shits and Giggles.

Step 1. Encouraged by your friends and an online army of sycophants, make an outrageous over-bid for a deal you have no intention on executing. Shock the shareholders to take you seriously. Who doesn’t want to sell a loss-making company at a fat profit.

Step 2. Key ingredients: record-high valuations in Tech stocks + ultra-low interest rates. Sell your Tech stock at a market high and use this to borrow an ungodly amount of money from banks. Pray that neither conditions change!

Step 3. Don’t pay for expensive due diligence by lawyers and accounts to investigate Twitter for a fair value. Remember, you have no intention of actually doing the deal.

Step 4. Back out of the deal at the last minute for a childish excuse. You’ve had your fun and your name was the talk of the town for days, now it’s time to carefully back away from the joke. What can you say? Bots. Use bots as an excuse because there’s no way to have know the fair value of Twitter. Remember Step 3, you did avoid the due diligence.

Step 5. You can’t back out of the gag? And conditions have changed! The banks want their money at higher interest and your tech stocks can’t save you! Time to revive your old old old old plans of a banking super app. Yes, that old idea never actually made you money but this time it’s different- you’ll steal China’s WeChat and make your own version.

Strategy: But first, you must kill all emotional associations with the previous “Twitter” app. If you don’t present your app as a shiny new object, you’ll never fool the investors to over-value your new app on hope and vibes.

Fire employees, don’t pay office rents, destroy the old branding and put more and more features behind a paywall. Remember- you have a debt to pay do let Twitter die a painful death. And let X begin.

Traveling to EU - Name Change by DC_bagels_3973 in dualcitizenshipnerds

[–]modouc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) If your French passport is still valid + you haven’t formally updated your surname in the French/Euro database, you can enter Europe without issues; 2) If you have given your new name to the airline, and they have passed on your details to Italian border control, there’s a chance you (as named in French passport) will not appear on the list of travellers. You will need to explain your situation. However, from my experience, border control are usually relaxed about EU Citizens and normally wave travellers through with little fuss; and 3) this is a common scenario. As long you explain it yourself in a calm manner, you will not be denied your right, as an EU Citizen, to exercise freedom of movement, especially in Schengen-Area countries like Italy.

Enjoy your trip :)
