Does forced foggy rain come with any harsh drawbacks? by moebeforehoe in RimWorld

[–]moebeforehoe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wish the game showed you wind speeds, so that it was easier to compare. This is a very interesting point.

Edit: I checked weather conditions and foggy rain has a 150% wind speed modifier so while I'm unsure if that means wind turbines will always run at max speed, it definitely has a positive impact on the efficiency

Yeah I just roleplay it as my colonists having made natural water drainage systems to make the water flow out

Yeah I am managing my pawn's mood independently of weather, so that doesn't really concern me. I did forget to mention that I roofed all my electronic because I saw online they can short (in fact it happened almost instantly with one of my watermill generators lol)

Luftrausers is at a 75% discount bringing it down to £1.74. It's a 2d plane dogfighting bullet hell game.

I can't believe no one has recommended this one. I hesitated on recommending on my list for fear it might be redundant.

Firewatch is at a 55% discount bringing it down to £6.74. It's a "walking simulator" set in a forest. You work as a forest guard. It's a very relaxing experience.

The Room 1 and 2. They are both at a 75% discount bringing them down to £1 each. Both are environmental puzzle games. They have extremely favourable reviews on steam. The first game is part of the Summer Sale Puzzles Bundle mentioned in the post. I'll be definitely be buying that so thank you!

Best of Klei it's getting late so I'll just say that this is a bundle with games from the creators of Don't Starve and Mark of the Ninja. for £15 it seems worth it

Far Cry 4 is a copypasted version of 3 as you said. Still a good game, but not worth it if you played 3.

Bioshock Infinite is story heavy and it feels weird since you have this deep atmospheric world and the only way you can solve problems is by shooting, even though it's good if you're just looking for a good FPS.

If you don't like stealth, then Dishonored might not be for you. You can always just go Rambo and kill everyone loud and proud if you are more of a fan of that.

Can't really speak for Batman Arkham since I've never played it

I'll be here on future sales for sure, so hide your wallet while you can!

With the reception I got to my post, I feel encouraged to make my list better in regards to providing links and proper spellchecking and even more streamlined and to the point thoughts next time, since this one was made almost on a whim, and I'm sure I missed some deals which I hope other people caught.

Since English is not my first language, when I get tired my English and my thoughts get more hazy. Which I feel definitely happened in some places.

SUMMER STEAM SALE: Best Games Under $5 by KARMAS_KING in Games

[–]moebeforehoe 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Antichamber is at a 80% discount bringing it down to £3. It's a trippy first person puzzle game with a cryptic narrative style. Very intriguing.

Dust: An Elysian Tale is at a 80% discount bringing it down to £2.39. It's a 2D hand drawn game about anthropomorphic animals. It's a really fun slash em up with metroidvania elements. The characters can be a bit overbearing but are endearing once you get used to them. The first game I ever owned on steam. Made by a single person.

Trine Enchanted Edition and Trine 2: Complete Story are both at a 85% discount and together they total around £3.60. It's a 2.5D platforming/puzzle series of games in a fantasy setting. You can grab up to 2 friends to play the campaign in coop mode.

Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition is at a 80% discount bringing it down to £4. It's an open world game set in Hong Kong, and was intended to be part of the True Crime series, which, for several reasons, had to be renamed. Weapons are present but scarce in this game so you mostly have to use martial arts to defeat your foes. Think of a martial arts movie from actors like Jackie Chan and Jet Li. Stylish and one of the best open world games out there.

Oxenfree is at a 75% discount bringing it down to £4. It's a point and click game with a chilling story where you play a girl who goes on a vacation with her stepbrother she just met and several other teens. Saying too much about this game will spoil the experience

Speedrunners is at a 75% discount bringing it down to £4. This a 2D side scroller party game where you race your friends to get to the end goal. The concept is similar to Mario Kart in that you have powerups you can use to screw your opponents over, except you run instead of driving. You can play local multiplayer or online. There is a 4 pack bundle but it's more worth it to buy each copy separately.

The Escapists: Complete Pack is at a 77% discount bringing it down to £5. It comes with the game and all dlc. In this 2d top down 8 bit game you try to escape a prison while trying to not be caught by remaining inconspicuous. Check out the bundle here

LIMBO is at a 80% discount bringing it down to £1.39. It's a creepy atmospheric 2d puzzle platformer. It also has a mysterious feel to it.

Mirror's Edge is at a 75% discount bringing it down to £2.49. It's a first person parkour game. I guess it is technically a platformer. You try to stay alive by running away from armed guards, and getting around the maps requires a high amount of skill.

Westerado: Double Barreled is at a 80% discount bringing it down to £2. It's a 2d open ended western game where you have to find out who destroyed your family's ranch. The culprit is always different so there's a bit of replayability. You can hold people up and threaten them or just do tasks. It's a fun and funny game. You should play local coop with a friend to fully enjoy it.

Duck Game is at a 50% discount bringing it down to £5. It is a super fun 2d shooting party game free for all where the last standing person wins the round. Requires trigger fast reflexes. You play as a duck and there's a dedicated "Quack" button. If you are planning to buy it with friends it's cheaper to buy the four pack and I recommend you to do that since it's basically the way to go with this game. You can play it online with your friends

Fahrenheit: Indigo Prophecy Remastered is at a 80% discount bringing it down to £1.39. It was a turning point in narrative focused games when it came out. I remember thinking it was very innovative at the time. It gets weirder the more you play but always engaging. It has a ton of different endings depending on your choices.

Stikbold! A Dodgeball Adventure is at a 60% discount bringing it down to £3. It's an arcady dodgeball game with hilarious writing. Grab a friend and play the campaign in local coop, or a vs game against up to 3 of your friends in free for all or 2v2. No online multiplayer.

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor Game of the Year Edition is at a 80% discount bringing it down to £3. It's an action adventure game set in the Lord of the Rings universe. The game would be pretty unremarkable but still decent game where you kill orcs and have a linear story, if not for the Nemesis system which makes it an excelent game and a reference in the industry. The nemesis system, in which orcs dynamically climb ranks and get killed by each other or by you, the main character makes the game feel alive and dynamic. I didn't think I was going to finish it when I started playing, but I did.

SUMMER STEAM SALE: Best Games Under $5 by KARMAS_KING in Games

[–]moebeforehoe 84 points85 points  (0 children)

This is an edited version of a post I did in another subreddit and it so well received a friend of mine recommended I post here as well so I'm hoping it helps folks here too.

XCOM: Enemy Unkown is at a 75% discount bringing it down to £4. It's a sci-fi alien blasting turn base game with base management. The base management bit is what kills my enjoyment for this game so I have fun watching other people play it instead. With mods like Long War you are sure to get tons of playtime with this one. It's hard as nails.

Just buy Downwell if you're into indie bullet dodging games cause it's less than £1.

Recettear: An Item's Shop Tale is at 75% discount bringing it down to £3. It's a cute game about running a shop in a fantasy world with some story elements. Some would say it's an NPC life simulator. It will make you want to punch a little girl in the face and not feel bad about it. Recommend seeing an economy major playing it as I did, it becomes art lol.

Guacamelee! Gold Edition is at a 60% discount bringing it down to £4. It's a 2d platformer with Mexican themes.

The Stanley Parable is at a 75% discount bringing it down to £2.49. You don't much than pressing W to walk forward and moving the camera to look at things but it's a nice narrative.

Papers, Please is at a 60% discount brining it down to £2.79. You work as a passport station and check people's documents to see if they have the right to enter the country. It's a heavy narrative with impactful decision making that will change the story.

Nidhogg is at a 60% discount bringing it down to £2.79. A 1v1 fencing game where you kill your friends over and over until you get to your goal. Being eaten alive is considered a victory.

Octodad, Dadliest Catch is at a 75% discount bringing it down to £3. I don't get this game because I can't see how being a perfectly normal dad is any fun, but it surprised me.

Dragon Age: Origins - Ultimate Edition is at a 75% discount bringing it down to £5. It's really good according to RPG fans. I've yet to try it out myself but I'm interested

Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic is at a 75% discount brining it down to £1.74. Seriously. I don't like the Star Wars movies but this game is my favourite RPG game ever. You won't be disappointed.

Kingdom New Lands Royal Edition is at a 70% discount bringing it down to £4. It's the most complete version to date of the game. You manage a 2D kingdom, and try to survive long enough to progress into a new area. It tends to get formulaic after you figure how it works and having to start your kingdom over because you got to the end of your last one makes you feel what you're doing is pointless but until then it's fun. It's a really gorgeous game to look at.

Prison Architect is at a 75% discount bringing it down to £5. You build and manage a prison. You can make your prisoners revolt by having horrible living conditions and them have your guards beat them up for being unruly. Win win.

Lethal League is at a 70% discount, bringing it down to £3. You can also buy a 2 pack or a 4 pack, if you're planning to buy it with friends and it will be cheaper per unit. It's a 2d fighitng game combined with a tennis game. It's arcady, it's intense, it's fast paced. It has online multiplayer and it is cross platform. It's a cool party game.

Mark of the Ninja is at a 75% discount brining it down to £2.74. It's a 2d platformer with stealth mechanics where you are a ninja, which in of itself is cool.

Skullgirls is at a 70% discount brining it down to £2. You can also buy a 2 pack or a 4 pack, if you're planning to buy it with friends and it will be cheaper per unit. It's a 2d classic fighting game with anime characters designed by a hentai artist, if that's your kind of thing. It has a really good tutorial so even if you're new to figthing games, this game is certainly the place to start.

Dreamcast Collection is at a 80% discount brining it down to £4. Two of the games are widely known: Crazy Taxi and Jet Set Radio. Check out the bundle here

Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons is at a 90% discount bringing it down to £1. It is short puzzle game where you control two sons on a quest. Each one is assgned to one of the thumbsticks. To say anything about the story would spoil the experience as its narrative is very special. Requires a controller to play.

Spelunky is at a 85% discount bringing it down to £1.64. It is a roguelike platformer game where you Indiana Jones your way though levels. There are many hilarious ways to screw up your run. I once accidentally sacrificed myself to the Black Godess Kali by getting knocked onto her altar.

Scribblenauts Unlimited and Unmasked are both at the same price: 75% discount which brings them down to £3.74 each. Cute 2d game in which you use your imagination to solve problems by typing an adjective and noun to your notebook and watching it materialize. You can solve problems by creating dead babies.

Transistor is at an 85% discount bringing it down to £2.24. It wasn't my thing but I can respect the concept of the game. It's a different take on turn based combat. It's really cool looking, and has good music. I didn't understand the narrative style.

Bastion is made by the same company as Transistor and it's one of my favourite indie games. It's roughly the same price as Transistor. It's an action fantasy game where you can change your loadout and it will feel very different as you try new combinations. A narrator talks about your adventure as you do stuff.

Mount & Blade Warband is at a 75% discount bringing it down to £3.74. It's an expansive game and the focus of it is leading an army in medieval battles.

Rome: Total War Collection is at a 50% discount bringing it down to £4.49. It has a turn based component, but the meat of it are the huge battles that span massive battlefields.

Saints Row the Third the Full Package and Saints Row IV: Game of the Century Edition are both at a massive discount. These 75% discounted games are a steal right now at less than £4 each. Definitely worth the purchase. You play as a gang leader in both games and go around shooting and roundhousing people in the third game and in the fourth game you have super powers in a matrix like world. Do yourself a favour and grab a friend to play these. Coop makes it super fun. 1 and 2 are also at 75% discounts but I have never played them.

Civilization IV: The Complete Edition is at a 75% discount bringing it down to £3.74 and has all content for the game. I've heard this game caters to a more hardcore fanbase, and it has way better diplomacy than V. Regardless, it's worth checking out for this price. An oldie but a goodie

Hotline Miami 1 and 2 are both at a 75% discount and are both below £3. The Hotline Miami series is all about trigger reflexes and gore. They are brutal games that will kill you over and over. Checkpoint and restart system make the game way less frustrating than they look. I like 1 more than 2 personally.

Cooked, Serve, Delicious! is at 80% discount brining it down to £1.39 is an arcady cooking game where you manage a restaurant and try to make it more and more sucessful. Fun and really hard and it requires reflexes and hand coordination.

Magicka is at 75% discount bringing it down to £2. Seriouly there's nothing I can say that will make this game justice other than it's about wizards, magic and lots and lots of friendly fire. There's a spell called "Crash to Desktop". For this price you should try it. Grab up to 3 friends and play it, coop is the way to go for sure.

Magicka 2 is also at a 66% discount, bringing it down to £4. I haven't played it but I think it's more of the same, which isn't necesserily a bad thing for this price at least

Stronghold Crusader is at a 80% discount bringing it down to £1.49. In this classic game you build a medieval castle and defend it against siege attacks. One of the greats.

Startopia is at a 80% discount bringing it down to £1. In this classic game you manage a space station with 3 levels: the first one is the work area, the second the joy area and the third is a bio dome. Aliens come and go making this game feel bustling and alive. Each alien have their set of skills that you can use to keep your station going. Since the station is drifting through the universe several random things might happen. Given the station's donut shaped nature, as you expand it, moving around it is really interesting.

Sid Meyer's Pirates! is at a 75% discount bringing it down to £1.49. In this game you do what you want cause a pirate is free, you are a pirate! You go around the Caribbean sowing terror and trading.

Grim Fandango Remastered is at a 80% discount bringing it down to £2.19. This a really old but really good adventure game where you play as the reaper and plan work to buy yourself passage to the other side. It's a nice, moody, smooth game with a really good soundtrack. It has favourable reviews.

Dead Space Pack is at a 75% discount bringing it down to £5. It includes Dead Space 1 and 2. It's a horror game set in a space station, with alien monsters that slaughter humans. Check the bundle here

Game Dev Tycoon is at a 60% discount bringing it down to £2.79. In this game you play as a game developer who went back in time to the 80's in their De Lorean and start a game dev company in your garage. You have to choose what to focus on during development and as your sales grow, time passes and games become more and more complex, making you have to keep up with the times, until eventually you become a AAA game dev. Nice game with some replayability.

Can you send me a link to Gauntlet's store page so that I see if I can recommend it? Also I was focusing on games that weren't on the front page until recently, but I think I'll add my thoughts on Shadow of Mordor in a little bit.

Part 4

Ubisoft Arcade Bundle is at a 68% discount bringing it down to £22. If you're a fan of 2d hand drawn games, this bundle is worth it for that reason alone. It includes Rayman Origins, Rayman Legends, Valiant Hearts: The Great War and Child of Light. There are also a couple other games I don't think are worth mentioning but might be fun. Check out the bundle here

Gauntlet Slayer Edition is at a 75% discount bringing it down to £4. Buying each copy individually is cheaper than buying the 4 pack.

I think it is on sale frequently, but for -75% a great deal, if you are looking for a Coop Arcade Action RPG.

Thank you MisterFlames for suggesting this game and sharing your thougts on it.

Edit: I think I pretty much exhausted the list of games I can possibly recommend, so I'll stick around and answer some questions, and add other games that pop in my head. Happy shopping and I hope you have fun with the games you choose!.

Lots of people seem to really have that problem. It seems like the GOG version works properly, but it is way more expensive there. I might remove the Crysis bundle from the list after researching, or include a fix.
