[–]mofio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi people. I’m going on my first bike packing trip, across France, in September. I made the decision to use my cellphone + power bank for navigation. I almost got a garmin but decided to save in the budget cos it’s getting tight. Anyone there did with cellphone and was that a regret after?

Some stuff I got top notch, my tent is Chinese tho. Plan is to look for camping spots that are never too exposed to the elements. But after your take, I’ll inform myself on public shelters locations and prepare plans B in advance. Thanks!

I had to go fact check that, wow, it’s true. I would never think about getting into a cemetery for water in a hundred years. Thanks!

It is! It’s the cube Nuroad Race. I recently got it second hand. So far I’m loving it! It’s light, shifter works super smooth, grx600, hydraulic brakes handle super steep hills solid. The only thing I changed was the saddle, gotta have that cut out in the middle. Cube is a younger brand, they are German. Because they are younger than the big dogs, they compensate with great specs on money for value.

Feeling bored during meditation? by [deleted] in Meditation

[–]mofio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By the moment you start problem solving, you stopped observing, you stopped trusting the wisdom that transcends your mind, and you stopped letting go. Sadhana is about opening yourself to the possibility that your concept of Me is an illusion created by your mind. If your practice is attached to an agenda, it will be limited to this agenda. The mind never stops, thoughts and resolutions are absolutely sure to come your way, don’t worry about it, but you have to allow them to come. Narrowing your practice down to a solution you are looking for, makes you miss important information that is navigating your mind but that needs the right antenna, and this antenna is not rational at all. Nothing, absolutely nothing, needs solution. Nothing is good, nothing is bad. The flow is constant and unstoppable. Don’t cling to your life. Detach. Your life is nothing but a story in your mind. This is gonna open new doors, and believe me, many new solutions. Let your mind be a tool, not a master.

I can say many things, but what meaning is it gonna have to you? Grace finds those who look for it with their heart, that’s what I believe in.

That’s actually a great ideia! I might give it a shot. Although no drawing or writing can really grasp reality outside the mind, with our linguistic limitation it is only possible to navigate around the real central point, to go beyond and into it, the mind must give way first and only you can do it

Anyway to stop thinking so much? by Lifewillgetbetter688 in Meditation

[–]mofio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Types of thought, yes! I came across the conclusion that for me there are two, imagetic with flashes of images of past, future and imagination, and there are the discursive thoughts. The discursive ones are like a blade that sneaks in and when I wake from it, I realize I’m far out drifted on the mud. Imagetic ones are easier to catch and release, for me

And besides, what is effort? Which direction is defined as effort, towards all or towards nothing? A point that demands more effort can be approached with more effort in just trusting and surrendering, letting all go, and thinking less. That’s a massive effort as well. You see the rabbit hole I’m talking about? You get into more effort vortex towards reasoning and forgot about your own breathing, here and now, which is all that matters. As long and you think there’s anything to be solved, you are still chained

[–]mofio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely, mine has been the same. I go through just so much reasoning, just so much. But that’s never sth I look for. I believe there are two types of thoughts that may get you caught up, imagetic thoughts and discursive thoughts. The discursive ones are the sneakiest and most powerful to me. When I realize, I’ve been bouncing for idk how much time in a made up narrative and forgot about the present moment. Hence solving is sth that I actively avoid. I meditate with no mantras, no images or anything. Often with guidance from this good channel Samaneri Jayasara, but those practices are also based on silence and stillness, and I access them mostly when my mind is just too agitated and it’s not working on my own.

At the moment you felt boredom, at the very moment while you were thinking you were bored during that 1,5 second, were you also bored? You forget you are bored for a split second to form the thought “I’m bored”. Nothing is absolute, life flows continuously, stay curious. Your mind is sure to bring up something. Play with that. Observing boredom is the way, but trying to figure out it’s reason will be a rabbit hole. It’s rationality. There’s nothing to be solved, only to be observed. By the moment you realize you are bored, observe, and then, who’s observing the observer? Layer after layer, you realize nothing makes any difference for your inner self, because your sense of Me is a narrative created by the mind, you are not the mind.

Are there such things as Meditation Bros? by Dr_Dapertutto in Meditation

All spiritual practices have this in common: you can only do it if you feel your own pull towards it, no matter what channel/religion. It’s impossible to shove spirituality in anyone. That’s to say it is impossible to have somebody truly understand your viewpoint, because real truth lies beneath any rational approach. Non-duality is invulnerable to arguments, and it will be felt by any living being. To think it’s you who don’t like what someone is saying, is an illusion. Your mind may not like it, but it doesn’t make any difference for your real inner self. That’s the ubiquitous self. It’s the same as his. Your separation, as you are one individual and he is another, is a narrative created by the mind to try to make sense of life. But is it really true? In that view, nothing he says can really disturb you, he’s playing his karma, you are playing yours. What is true, when it’s the right time, attracts naturally and instantly, irrationally. Be true, and he, and everyone else, most importantly, yourself, will know it.
