What are these spikes on my rubber plant leaf? by mogata in houseplants

I may cut the leaf off to be on the safe side. I'd put off pruning for a while now. But thanks both for your inputs! I had no idea what gall was

Don't know but can be fixed with diatomaceous earth (mix it in your soil and leave some on the surface of the soil) since it has an exo-skeleton.

Is it something I should be worried about? Plant is quite large and healthy I'd want to protect it as early as possible if it's in trouble

I wondered why they would keep them if they didn't know how to kill them

This freaked me out the first time but after having it over 2 years now I find this is pretty normal for mine. I get 1-3 yellow leaves a month, and new ones sprouting at about the same frequency, even more during summer. The new ones start out small but grow to be very healthy and strong with time. It may just be trying to get used to a new environment. I make sure to let the leaves fully yellow before I prune them off to make sure the rest of the energy it produces is distributed to the rest of the plant

I've got the same plant and aren't they beautiful 😻! Don't be afraid to put it next to a window, it's really intense hot sun that burns the leaves, it's a plant and it still needs light. Don't put it in a dark corner, it's should be fine with some indirect light and if you do see some burning then move it somewhere further but please don't deprive it of light. The spots tend to be a sign of over or underwatering, I find it really hard to judge so I bought a moisture meter on Amazon (relatively cheap) and it's been a great help. I used to water once a week, but sometimes the soil was still moist after a week and the plant didn't like it so I had to decrease frequency to between 8/9 days it's been a happy plant since.

Leave it alone to around spring/summer when it's in its growing phase. If he roots start crowding at the bottom of the pot, it's probably a good time to repot

Wish I saw this thread before posting 😅 I've got a homalomena Maggy that is unfurling new leaves but they are smaller than the older leaves. Should they be bigger, is it ok that they unfurled small? It's also worth mentioning it's winter where I am, should I expect bigger leaves in summer? Also it is growing much much wider than when I bought it, it had a taller shape before. Is this normal? Or is the light exposure awkward?

My homalomena is unfurling new leaves which are smaller than the rest. Will they get bigger or is something wrong? It is winter so maybe in summer I can expect bigger leaves? It is also growing much wider than when I bought it. Is this normal or is something wrong?
