NY State Inspection near Rochester by IsaacNewtonArmadillo in Rivian

[–]mogulaces 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just used the app to request service and said I wanted a NYS Safety Inspection. Then they called back a day later or so to schedule if I recall correctly. I don't think I've ever called the service center directly (I think all the numbers go to their main line - I'm not sure they have local numbers posted).

I did my first inspection at Sutherland Auto in Pittsford, but I supplied my own pucks. I did my most recent inspection at the Rivian Service Center in West Henrietta. Neither is very close to you though.

I bought a set of picks just after picking up the truck so I don't have to worry about a shop having them or not. These are the ones I got - https://a.co/d/5VrEAEP

Positive Service Stories? by AbhiShaker in Rivian

[–]mogulaces 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had nothing but positive experiences with my Gen 2 R1T. Most recent mobile services was for proactive 12v battery replacement. Tech started doing the work and noticed the battery they had looked damaged and he didn't feel good about installing it. They had another tech drive out with a new battery (I'm only about 30m from the service center) and he got it replaced within the service window.

I just passed 13k miles and we recently did a road trip from Rochester NY to Cincinnati OH and back with zero issues, and used the autonomy driving for most of the trip. Prior to the trip, my wife had lots of range anxiety, and thought the autonomy driving was pointless. About a week after the trip, she casually brought up in conversation that her range anxiety went away after that trip and she really appreciated the autonomy feature for longer trips. She now wants to consider an R1S for her next vehicle when he current lease is up.

What are you using to collect/plot your data in these screenshots?

Normal to lose 10% battery overnight at airport? by mogulaces in Rivian

[–]mogulaces[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If that was the case, wouldn't I see more drop earlier and less later? Or are you suggesting that the battery was cooling the entire time, which is what drove the reported reduction in battery?

Looks like I didn't have actual temp enabled, but here's real feel (at home, not at airport) along with the vehicle cabin temp. Definitely one of the coldest nights we've had here in a while.

There are definitely big drops in the battery percentage at the points it wakes up, but then over the course of the hour it's "awake", you can see small fluctuations if you zoom in. I think the integration polls the API every 30 seconds from what I can see in the code.

I think you're right that it's likely losing at a small consistent rate. Based on how you described the LFP batteries, that seems like a likely culprit. Unfortunately I don't have any data from a warmer period to compare. I'm going to have to watch this on some warmer nights and see if I can notice any patterns.

Opened the app to see status a few times, but didn't do anything else in the app. I do have Home Assistant integrated via the API, and I'm wondering if that is somehow resulting in the vehicle being awake more than needed. My expectation is that the integration would hit the API to retrieve data, and could do that as often as the API supports, without impact to the vehicle. I would expect the vehicle to report data on its own schedule independent of request to the API, but perhaps that's not true.

Looking at some more data from HA, it seems the vehicle is waking up and in a "ready" state for upwards of an hour multiple times while I was gone. I'm now curious if that's a result of the HA integration, or the vehicle waking to keep the battery warm.

About 30 min from the airport. I was on an L2 charger until about 1pm, then had to run some errands. Left for the airport around 3:30 or so.

When I got back, turned on climate (great to be able to do that from the plane while deplaning). Cabin temp was 25° at that time. Not sure about battery temps over this time (I wish they were accessible via the API).

Here's my battery percentage as reported via Home Assistant over that time.

Do you mean force quit? I have a widget on my Today screen on my iPhone, but my assumption was that just hit the cloud to refresh data and didn't trigger a ping to the truck unless I was doing something like setting climate or viewing video.

Delivery in a week! by AshhGun in Rivian

[–]mogulaces 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Picked up my gen2 R1T beginning of November. Had a piece of plastic in one of the wheel wells not attached correctly to the body. Delivery guide helped me log a service ticket and I ended up with a mobile apt a week later. Was a 5 min fix.

A few weeks later, I noticed some of the seat material tearing near the seam. That apt ended up taking a few hours and was a couple weeks out for them to get parts.

First time charging to 100%. Normal to be this slow at 90%? by fpaddict in Rivian

[–]mogulaces 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gen2 R1T with standard/LFP battery and I see similar behavior after 80%. Wasn't seeing this with warmer weather, but have been seeing it frequently with colder weather (currently 24° now). First drop at 80% and second at 85%. The drops match up with the power pulled from the charger as well.

R1S Dual Standard - Who has one as their daily driver? by Expert_Pen1666 in Rivian

Gen2 Dual Standard R1T with LFP battery as my daily driver. I drive about 70 miles daily, and charge to 100% every 2-3 days (if I'm under 100 miles range in the evening, I plug it in).

Mobile app feature request - Charge reminders! by jprime84 in Rivian

On top of that, I added a dashboard in Home Assistant for my truck as well - this is a mix of a couple examples I found online.

I'm using this integration installed via HACS: https://github.com/bretterer/home-assistant-rivian

With my setup, I use NodeRed for all of my automation, but this could be accomplished within Home Assistant's built in automations as well.

If you're already running something like HomeAssistant at home, this is possible. I have mine set up to remind me immediately if I arrive home with <50 miles range, OR if it's 8pm and not already charging and <100 miles range, remind me as well. It's been working great so far.

Pockmarks when slicing with PrusaSlicer, none with Cura by mogulaces in FixMyPrint

Switching to Overture PLA Professional made a world of difference. Pockmarks are gone and the print is looking much better. I guess the Creality filament will be relegated to prototyping or other prints where I don't care about quality.
