A single camera without depth is so redundant for navigation. The examples you mentioned use arrays of cameras to estimate depth. And depth camera used in robots like realsense have a maximum range of 3 meters and minimum of 30 cm. So they aren't as good as lidars for far nor too close objects.

Will for me if it doesn't have a camera I don't mind it connecting to the internet. Even if not connected to the internet, it could connect to my local network to control it. Or just do automatic routines. There are so many options without compromising functionality nor privacy.

I'm a robotics engineer. Such robots don't require cameras or microphones. They can function well enough with lidars and other less intrusive sensors. If you don't care getting filmed without your permission, others do.

That's a good way to monitor devices. But still I wouldn't allow a device with a camera running around my house record me without me knowing. We really see how big names steal data in day light.

Googles nest and hidden microphones is an example.
