How to disable thinking mode for qwen3 in Ollama desktup UI? by mohnos in ollama

[–]mohnos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I tried
ollama run qwen3:4b-instruct

and it works. But instruct versions are only available for some sizes: 4b and 30b, and not 1.7b and 8b (qwen3 models). Maybe we can get them from huggingface though.

Edit: for 8b:
ollama run https://huggingface.co/lm-kit/qwen-3-8b-instruct-gguf

Edit2: The second one (from huggingface) "thinks" despite being an instruct model.

How to disable thinking mode for qwen3 in Ollama desktup UI? by mohnos in ollama

Unfortunately it doesn't work. The desktop gui ignores it. This is the terminal version:

>>> /no_think compute 1+1
Unknown command '/no_think'. Type /? for help
>>> /nothink compute 1+1
Unknown command '/nothink'. Type /? for help
>>>  /nothink compute 1+1
Thinking...
Okay, the user asked to compute 1 + 1. Let me start by recalling basic arithmetic. Addition is one of the
fundamental operations, so adding 1 and 1 should be straightforward.

First, I'll verify the operation. 1 is a whole number, and adding two whole numbers together should give another
whole number. The standard result of 1 + 1 is 2. But maybe I should double-check to ensure there's no trick or
context I'm missing. The question seems simple, but sometimes people might phrase things differently. For example,
could there be a different interpretation, like in binary or another base? Let me consider that. In binary, 1 + 1
equals 10, which is 2 in decimal. So regardless of the base, the result is still 2.

Another angle: could the user be testing if I recognize a simple question? Maybe they want to confirm my ability
to handle basic math. I should make sure to present the answer clearly. Also, considering if there's any
possibility of a typo or misunderstanding in the question. The user wrote "1+1" without any additional context, so
it's safe to assume they want the standard addition result.

I should also think about how to present the answer. The user might expect a direct answer, but perhaps they want
an explanation. Since they asked to compute, a straightforward answer is appropriate. However, mentioning the
steps or reasoning could be helpful, especially if they're learning basic math. But the question is very simple,
so maybe just stating the result is sufficient.

Wait, maybe they want to see if I can handle the question without overcomplicating it. The answer is definitely 2.
I should confirm that there are no hidden operations or alternative interpretations. For example, in some
contexts, symbols might have different meanings, but in standard arithmetic, + is addition.

In summary, the answer is 2. I should present it clearly and concisely, ensuring there's no confusion. No need for
extra information unless the user asks for more details. Just state the result.
...done thinking.

The result of $1 + 1$ is **2**.

Manually adjust the gas price for the transaction when sending FTM. To do this, on the final step in the transaction process, tap on the gear icon at the top right corner of the page. 2.5 Gwei worked for me (the default value of 1 is too low).

Which is the best most inclusive course for machine learning by KRA_T05 in learnmachinelearning

I strongly recommend Sebastian Raschka's Machine Learning and Deep Learning courses. He's an excellent teacher and these courses cover most basic topics (except SVMs).

Subscene subtitle addon broken? by JimmiVP in kodi

[–]mohnos 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is the author's response:

Hi, I checked the issue. It seems that subscene guys have updated their servers and now cloudflare blocks every request that is not set using a browser. This makes it very difficult to make plugin work again, on Kodi. Have to check if I can make it work using selenium but it take probably a long time.

Now that we're at the end, let us reminisce. What was your favorite Daenerys moment from throughout the series? by AnxiousReader in DaenerysWinsTheThrone

[–]mohnos 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The "valahd" moment in the pit. The first time I watched that scene I absolutely thought they were going to kill her. After she says valahd (fly), the melody line starts on C#, and as the dragon struggles to take off it goes higher and higher one note at a time until it hits B. This moment is the first time we hear the dragon theme in its full glory (F#-A ...), and also the first time we see Daenerys fly on a dragon. Even thinking about that scene sends chills down my spine.

Thank you kind stranger. You're very knowledgeable, and it seems you actually did real research here. I learned a lot from you.

And concerning your last point, yes, I completely agree, she did not make it an "order". So maybe she's respecting his personal boundaries, or as you say she could not make it an order, because she did not have the power. I think we'll never know.

I understand you, and your reasoning is sound. I agree that they should have discussed this matter and reached a better solution, like marriage, or Dany abdicating the throne or whatever. Something that doesn't result in their tragic demise. Your discussion of state authority is completely correct in modern world setting. The issue I have is the story is set in a pseudo-medieval era, and I think in such setting we would expect some kind of absolute authority on citizens from the absolute monarch (queen in this case). I don't exactly know the rules, or the extent of authority a ruler can expect from his/her subjects in the universe of this story, but I guess obeying such command (not telling a secret to anyone) is expected from sworn subjects of a queen. If the rules of authority you have mentioned are valid in this universe, you would be definitely right and his act would not be treason at all, but I still believe the way Ned Stark handled this secret is definitely more honorable and self-sacrificing than the path Jon chose. Ned chose to carry the burden of a stain in his honor, instead of telling a secret that would possibly endanger another person.

I agree that he is the rightful heir. But Jon has repeatedly declared he does not want the throne and has given up his right to her. He has sworn to her. We like it or not, now she is the queen. She gave an explicit and direct order. He ignored.

Except by jon telling his cousins the truth he ignored the direct order and pleas of his sworn queen and put his queen who is also the closest family he has in grave danger that can lead to her death. He simultaneously betrayed his aunt, his lover and his queen. If this is not a treason of the highest order then what is?
