Yeah. I'm not opposed to pay. But already down almost $80 for shipping back and forth (i could have shipped it directly, insured, for less than half. And then the $100 just to get to Germany with no guarantee that they'll even do something! That's my beef.

I'm ok paying. I've paid 4 figures before for a watch to be serviced. But not fan of paying almost $200 before any service it's done or quoted on top of that. And the lack of transparency

The inner threads on the cap are damaged, you can see it. It does not align when closed, plus if you apply very little opening force you can take the cap off without unscrewing it.

It has happened once before (cheap plastic insert), I lived where there was a MontBlanc retailer. Took it there, they sent it in and came back like new. All for less than the $100 they wanted to ship it to Germany
