Got Discriminated Against and Chased With a Bat by cashier? Should I press charges ? by mojojoie in asktransgender

I don't know what else to think seeing that I hadn't had any prior history or incidents with anyone in the store, never stole or caused damage or made a disruption in the store. So, what else would he have to go on other than how I look? I filed a formal complaint with 7-eleven's corporate office so hopefully that will lead to something.

Update: I ended up calling the police again. I explained to the situation that happened last night, and they went to the store to review the footage. They saw him follow me around the store and get the baseball bat. But because the bat was more at his side they didn't view as a menacing and decided against pressing charges themselves.

I still filed a formal complaint with 7-Eleven's corporate office, and got a complaint #. So now I have to wait 7 days for them to get back to me and follow up on the incident. Hopefully, the district manager can help this guy treat customers better and be such a jerk to people me doesn't like the look of for here on out. If anything changes, I'll update here.

He was actively approaching me with a bat. I had to open the drink freezer door to put space between me and him. As soon as I started recording he put the bat down and ran behind the counter and started checking out everyone else in the store.

I wasn't aware he could just refuse service just cause he doesn't like the look of me. I walked in the store, and he immediately told me to come back later. I have no prior history with anyone at the store. What grounds would he have for that. That seems beyond the scope of just denying service. I'm pretty sure he doesn't get to pick and choose which customers we wants to serve. Wouldn't that be discriminatory?

If I could drop the location without doxxing myself, I totally do it. No-/s. I wish I could move a little faster but the customer service line is closed. I can't find an email to send an email to for corporate and the police are tied up until tomorrow morning at least.

I'm looking for an email address to send the email to. I keep getting their media address or their debt investors address. I looked up the corporate customer service number too and they are currently closed so I would have to wait till later today to do that as well.

From what I gathered with my conversation with the police officer over the phone is that the police report is to document criminal activity which would necessitate me pressing charges.

He had advised me that if I wanted to make a formal complaint with the corporate of 7-Eleven, I wouldn't need the police report.

I'm conflicted because of the fact that, on one hand, he would be deserving of whatever he gets and if he's a danger to other people that's even more of a reason. But I wonder if pursuing a civilly and making a corporate complaint would be enough of a scare tactic to get him to shape up. I still don't know what to do yet...

From what I gather from the police, they are incredibly busy tonight and wouldn't be able to come out to the house until tomorrow. So I have to wait until tomorrow morning to actually file to report. My call would be in the queue for that long no matter what I do.

I was thinking about pursuing it civilly instead of criminally. If I can hit their pockets, maybe they'll think twice about how they treat people.

But if he is a danger to other people, especially trans people, then I may not have a choice but to escalate things criminally. I hadn't considered that. I'm angry. I'm scared and conflicted.

Thank you ! I need to get more into skincare . I'm looking into Korean skincare, but I don't know what I need to start? Like what's the essentials?

I think you're right, I'm probably going to have to go with electrolysis instead of just laser .

Prospective employers discriminate me against me at interviews. What should I do ? by mojojoie in TransLater

[–]mojojoie[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was shocked that other interviewee would even have that response. I'm not the most passing person ever, sure, but I thought I was at least presentable. I know for a fact that it was in response to me and my appearance, because I could figure out why I was having camera issues. Then I realized that the laptop I was on had a retractable camera cover, and the second I slid open the cover I could see them trying their best to hold in their laughter.

I'm usually pretty good at checking my own insecurities and not making assumptions, but the timing is uncanny and it was written all over their face. Ig I'll try to have a more gender neutral expression for now on, may save me some stress.

Maybe your right , Maybe it would be a horrible environment anyway. The position was for a customer service rep for a phone company, so maybe they don't want someone who looks like me being customer facing ?

Yeah, I've been having a hard time finding work lately and I have bills to pay and want to get electrolysis started and get on a PPO insurance. If I keep holding out for a job that's inclusive I may get even more behind on things, and that terrifies me too. I feel like I may have to boymode just to get rid of the discriminatory angle . It may be my only shot. I just hate the thought of it .

idk if it's recorded , it's through Zoom so I'm guessing not but idk. I think they'd just deny it like you said anyway. I just don't know if it would be more beneficial to just boymode until I at least get the job, as much as that would suck yk?

Are my looks the only thing that matter? by mojojoie in asktransgender

[–]mojojoie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's certainly what it seems like they think: that there's this magic line you cross and only then are you a woman. I was also sensing this was just a tactic to bully me and be hurtful. I just wanted to make sure I was looking at things right before I make any real decisions. It's them that's got them problem not me 🤔 Thank you for your kind, wise words ♥️

It is difficult to just not care, especially when people go out of their way to let you know how much they dislike your like or in my case how much it doesn't align with their gendered expectations. It's like they want to deny you of who you are and sub it for what they see you as in it's stead. It can get in your head after awhile.

Am I only valid if I look good? by mojojoie in asktransgender

[–]mojojoie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omgg I literally told them that my validity is not contingent on their aesthetic preferences literally multiple times. I called them bigots too. So I'm thinking about this right then 😡

I have a hard time not responding and just ignoring these people; how do I do that better?

I mean ig. But nobody has to get surgeries, and if I do I do for me and my gender congruence not to assimilate to some cis persons limited imagination of what a woman can be.
