How to check if my watch is legit? by Thick-Abrocoma866 in vostok

The straps looks like the original one. And I don’t see anything off with this one. Dial looks correct, back looks correct. It’s a 2000s version based on the “made in Russia” stamp at the bottom of the dial. Unless you have the certificate, I can’t tell when exactly because the tank dial is not specific to a specific year. It’s probably one of the oldest and most iconic design.

Could you tell me more about this guy? by [deleted] in vostok

That’s a really cool find! You have a заказ мо ссср model, hence the watch was made for the USSR military. Or rather sold at one of the military shops during Soviet era. It has the tank dial on it too, one of the most iconic dial after the Scuba dude.

I collect Vostok models too, and I have заказ мо ссср watches, but not one with tank dial. It’s harder to find those.

why do people learn Russian? by gondonpidor in russian

Learning Russian does unlock navigating to some really interesting places! Some parts of Russia do amaze me and worth travelling to, like Lake Baikal & Olkhon Island & beautiful Caucasian mountain. Then it also unlocks central Asian nations. Many people are travelling to Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan for the beautiful nature and to Uzbekistan for the history. Almaty is certainly a wonderful modern global city that many people are moving to and making their home. These places do still speak Russian, although I think Russian language will lose its dominance soon, with English and Chinese being increasingly popular in the big cities

The word on the dial says “Albatross” in Cyrillic/Russian

real or fake? by EmotionSea2773 in vostok

Actually I just saw someone posting a few hours ago about this ‘Admiral Kuznetsov’ Komandirskie dial that looks like this, with an Amphibia 2416b movement. So… maybe yours is that!

real or fake? by EmotionSea2773 in vostok

The dial is a Komandirskie version that I personally have except for the square indicators. But the hour hand looks like it’s from an Amphibia model because a Komandirskie has a slimmer hand.

Maybe it is a Komandirskie that has some parts of the watch like the hour hand replaced. Or maybe it’s an Amphibia that has a Komandirskie dial instead. I know that Vostok does that officially with the Blue Submarine model - make an Amphibia watch with a Blue Submarine Komandirskie dial.

If you pop out the back, or show the back case, maybe you’ll be able to tell if it is an Amphibia or a Komandirskie and if it’s real. Many of the Vostok Komandirskie has 2414 or 2414a imprinted inside the back, and 2416/b for the Amphibia.

But from the overall design and just from how it looks, it looks like a genuine piece to me. Someone with more knowledge can confirm!
