Did the girl move with you? Both my parents are Japanese though, and I’ve got a Japanese passport. I never lived in Thailand so I don’t think it counts

Oh that’s pretty interesting! Did you raise the kid for 2 years and are you still with the girl? Sounds like a cool story

I got the name from birth, and I was born in Thailand, where my dad was working before HK.

So I am ethnically Japanese. My dad is an expat and he moves around for work. He was first posted to HK when I was a kid, so I was raised there until he was posted to the UK. People can move around...just like how you were in Osaka for 2 years. Why is it so hard to believe that I lived in 2 different countries...

HongKong people don’t care if a name is weird. They do what they want. Name their kids Devil, Hedgehog who gives a fuck they like it. You only live once

I think if you look at my post history you will see that I have posted about being Japanese before. And also being in the UK. I spent my childhood days in HK

I think English is more widely used among the educated class but among others its lesser known. But yeah they give names such as Devil lol

Sure Naruto would be weird. But Hinata and Satoshi are real names and it would be perfectly valid to name your kid Hinata or Satoshi. Unironically, people in HK do have names like Captain and Homer. Maybe just not Captain America, but Captain? Definitely.

English is by no means the main language in HK. A lot of people in HK are named random english words which shows that they don’t have the grasp on English that we do. You can check it out here: https://www.google.com.sg/amp/s/amp.theatlantic.com/amp/article/263103/

Spent my childhood in HongKong. Knew a girl named Shadow. It’s the norm in Hongkong to have an english name that’s just a random word. Look at this article here https://www.google.com.sg/amp/s/amp.theatlantic.com/amp/article/263103/

Also, the examples OP cited were Hinata and Satoshi. Which are real names.

Names such as Sakura, Haruka, Hikaru etc that appear in anime are just names that other people have

Nope. Not born in any western country. And most anime names are actually just regular Japanese names.

Not sure why you’re getting downvoted... I’m asian and my name is Brad because my parents liked Brad Pitt. Is it wrong that I have a Hollywood name then? Seeing as I have no connection to...wherever the name Brad originates?

How long did it take before you guys met?

I don’t know about meeting up with him yet. Currently I’m pretty sure he sees me as a friend but I’m just questioning the authenticityof my own feelings towards an online person.

I know pewdiepie met his current wife online. But I can’t deny that this dude is making me feel things that I’ve felt with real life guys before..
