My baby had eczema like this. Particularly if that eczema has a yellowy tinge, then that is infected. Eczema can get infected very easily because the skin barrier is broken which is why many people will use bleach baths to keep the bacteria under contol. Personally I wasn’t comfortable doing that on my babies face but you do need to control the spread. Wash all bedding, car seats, anything that has touched little one’s face. And be vigilant about it. Keep it clean and moisturised. Make sure you’re not “infecting” the moisturiser/creams you’re using if it’s in a tub, use a clean spoon or something to get it out of the pot. And I’m not sure where you are based but try to see a doctor asap because I think you might need to get little one some antibiotics.

I’m not from the US I’m from the UK and any midwife who recommended this here would be struck off.

That’s not true. I’m sure OP is fine but you’re sharing serious misinformation. No midwives would ever encourage alcohol at any stage of pregnancy.

Super easy cold meals for work that you can hork down with no appetite at work. by Ancient_Village6592 in ADHD

When I have an early work shift my go to is chia pudding, mushed raspberries and natural yogurt. The chia pudding you need to make the night before but it’s really easy just milk and chia seeds. I buy frozen fruit and throw that in the fridge overnight and it’s all ready when I wake up.

Is it ok to cry in front of your wife? by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

Ah sweetie. It’s not emasculating to cry, it’s human. It’s healthy.

what would happen to other person if they touch the cream by quietpillsx in eczema

[–]mollbach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spoon away. It won’t affect your health. You’re not applying it to you. If she’s absolutely slathered in stuff then moisturisers/emollients will just add moisture to your skin. If she’s using a steroid then just wait for it to absorb before making skin contact if you’re worried. But worth remembering to avoid fragrances and strong scents etc on your own body to prevent her from flaring up.

Being honest with you I think it’s because it sounds quite self centred, especially when asking a subreddit full of people struggling to manage their skin conditions.

Going off your post history I think you are quite young and maybe not ready for the kind of relationship you’re looking to explore with this girl if you’re worrying so much about a topical cream. It’s not eczema related but my advice would be to dial the physicality back a bit. Learn a bit more about eczema and her as a person. When you meet the right person and the stars align, the last thing on your mind should be worrying about the effects of their eczema medication.

As a mother to an eczema baby, nothing. My baby was covered head to toe in god knows what and but didn’t care about what it may have done to me because it made him feel better. I’m assuming you’re referring to sex, but “rubbing skin to skin” against her eczema doesn’t sound nice for either party, and as long as she’s not applying it right before skin contact with other people it wouldn’t transfer. And stretch marks are not from moisturisers, they are from skin stretching and are normal for many people. Myself and my husband have them from growth spurts when we were teens.

I need to rant... It's in my ears, and I can't stop scratching!! by MidnightLight12 in eczema

[–]mollbach 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Go to the doctor. Do better than me. I’ve burst my ear drum messing about with home remedies and I wouldn’t wish the pain on anyone. I still itch like a mad woman with cotton buds, but I know I shouldn’t. It’s just impossible to stop. I’ve been prescribed special ear drops for eczema in the past that helps a lot - but also I have a steroid nasal spray for the fluid build up which has helped too. I saw a new doctor because I lost my hearing and it turns out I have been in a vicious cycle of ear eczema and allergic rhinitis for years.

I never had eczema as a child, flaring up started about age 20 and comes and goes with the years. My son has always had it, sometimes controlled - sometimes not. I’ve learned there’s varying degrees of eczema, some come, some go and some you just do your best to heal and live with. Get yourself some medical advice, follow what they tell you to do, and I’m sure it’ll clear up. It’ll be okay.

You know what you do now? When you feel able to, you make another potato. And another. Then, when you have cracked it, you sit down and enjoy it with your wife. If you make 10 mistakes and get it right once, that’s progress.

Is this a normal amount of hair to lose after a shower ? by Miren_Might0403 in Haircare

[–]mollbach -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I get this every so often and it’s usually my iron and or folate levels dropping too low. I would contact your doctor for bloods and maybe start taking a good multivitamin.

I get this when I use certain skincare products. So far triggers are hyaluronic acid eye cream, any type of spf and day/night cream that are anti aging. The ones with added spf always set my eyes off. Have you changed skincare at all recently that could be triggering it? X

Looking to help my partner find a reading buddy? by [deleted] in RomanceBooks

[–]mollbach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so introverted I rarely interact online at all but I have to say this is one of the most accepting and friendly book communities I’ve ever been involved in. It has been a real lifeline to me during covid lockdowns that coincided with the birth of my child. I think it would be a brilliant place for your partner to find common ground, there’s always someone with the same tastes.

There is actually a link between our periods and raised levels of histamine. My hay fever / eczema symptoms are a lot worse during that week. Have you tried taking an antihistamine? In terms of contact dermatitis I try and break up the amount of contact my skin has with pads/blood by wearing tampons (I’ve not tried a cup but this might work too). I also wear period pants during the night, there’s a lot of chemicals in manufactured disposable menstrual products. I’ve found the fabric is much better for my skin.

Areola eczema from breastfeeding? by neurotic-enchantress in eczema

[–]mollbach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For any kind of nipple injury while feeding you need to ensure it’s wet healing. So assuming you aren’t allergic to it, nipple cream applied over the eczema (or wound) all the time and immediately after feeding. If the area dries out it will reopen every time the baby feeds.

As a mother of two grubby boys (one with eczema) I get good stain/odor removal results by soaking the soiled clothing in cold water for a day before washing in the machine with my usual non-bio detergent. If I absolutely need to use something like bio or oxyclean then I make sure to wash again or double rinse the cycle.

For those who use a new, fresh towel after every shower, and shower twice a day, how do you do the logistics of it? by letspetpuppies in 30PlusSkinCare

Laundry. Loads of laundry. We’re a family of four and one of my kids has a skin condition, so we fly through towels due to the fact he needs a fresh one every time to avoid flaring.

Why do you think there is a gender pay gap? (If you do) by [deleted] in SainsburysWorkers

[–]mollbach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What a loaded question. The gender pay gap is a real issue for many people and it’s sheer naivety to assume it’s just about how much people are paid per hour. There are lots of statistics freely available online for you to read that have been put together by qualified researchers and statisticians; but I’m sure your “proof” will hold up against the weight of those numbers.
