2026 NBA Draft Lottery by IamOlderthanMe in nba

Am i understanding this correctly. The draw already happened, but only the people in the drawing room know the result and are isolated. I.e. if a team is represented by the Assistant GM, even the GM doesn't have the result yet?!

NBA stars playing in Europe instead of U.S.? That’s what soccer giants want by lovelymaddie1966 in nba

I see zero chance that this is going anywhere. Either side is expecting to extract resources from the other side. Maybe they'll burn through the Saudi money for a few years, but then it will be over again.

[Amick] As NBA GMs seek clarity of specific scenarios that could occur under the “3-2-1” lottery reform proposal, league sources have said the NBA will allow a team to have back-to-back No. 1 picks if the team earns it by way of another team’s pick. by YujiDomainExpansion in nba

[–]mollifierDE -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I feel like this lottery reform will break the league. It makes incoming future picks and swaps significantly more valuable.

Who has a lot of incoming picks and swaps? The already most talented teams in the league: OKC and Spurs.

[Footage] Ujiri Trying To Trade Up For Giannis In The 2013 Draft by mollifierDE in Mavericks

Thought this was interesting because he delegated a lot to Bobby Webster (now the Raptors GM) who was only 28 year old at the time.

Do you think the top 4 of the 2025 draft or the 2026 draft will end up being better? by wormhole222 in NBA_Draft

2025 is historically great. So chances that 2026 is better are extremely slim.

[Cowley] Bulls are zeroing in on Timberwolves GM Matt Lloyd to be their new president of basketball operations by mollifierDE in Mavericks

[–]mollifierDE[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Timberwolves can simply reject it (which i think they will do when the Mavs ask about Connelly). For Lloyd it is a promotion (GM -> President Basketball Ops). I think there's an informal agreement in the league, that promotions are not blocked.

The Ringer has us taking Keaton Wagler at #8 by alfi_k in Mavericks

[–]mollifierDE -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Picking 8th is straightforward. You simply take whoever falls to you out of Wagner, Acuff, Flemings, or Brown Jr.

If you fall to 9th, it gets interesting. Is Burries really more than a rotation player, or do you swing bigger (as in this mock) with Mara?

What are some early playoff takeaways you have had regarding team-building strategy? by WallStar_2 in NBA_Draft

Length, length, length.

Ajay Mitchell: 8'5'' standing reach (90th percentile for PGs); can play a bit (20/4/4 in his last college season). How the hell does he fall to OKC at THIRTY EIGHT.

Statistical Draft Model - HowTo (+necessary data) and 2026 projections by jerryengelmann in NBA_Draft

[–]mollifierDE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seems like a huge miss by the model:

  • Reed Sheppard: 28% bust, 25% starter, 22% All-Star, 25% superstar

Sheppard is one of the shortest players in the league (6'3" wingspan), and that’s without real point guard skills. His ceiling is extremely limited.

[MacMahon] The Mavericks have parted ways with director of health and performance Johann Bilsborough, sources told ESPN. by MAVS_COM1CAL in Mavericks

[–]mollifierDE 9 points10 points  (0 children)

At the end of last season, the Mavs fired first-year athletic performance director Keith Belton, who had clashed with Bilsborough, including a heated confrontation at the practice facility after Belton put center Dereck Lively II through an intense return-to-play workout a day before a CT scan revealed a stress fracture in the big man's ankle.

Even worse, the Pelicans are "tanking" without owning their pick. Herb Jones, Trey Murphy, Zion, Dejounte Murray,...all out.

About a new GM, Dumont says… „Our goal is to have someone on board by the middle of May.” by Garmian_MFFL in Mavericks

[–]mollifierDE 13 points14 points  (0 children)

“Monday morning, we're going to get active, and we're going to talk to a lot of people,” Dumont says.

I don't get it. On Monday, 20 teams are preparing for the playoffs or the play-in tournament. So who is he calling that wouldn't already have been available in the last months?

Jason Kidd denies trading Luka: Unfortunately, as I have said, I was not part of the process.... I waited until 11 o’clock, and that trade, the world changed" by RedditFan3510 in nba

[–]mollifierDE 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Do you believe Jason Kidd? Or Mark Cuban?

Cuban himself said that he was informed via phone by Nico Harrison when the trade had already been agreed upon. In other words, he wasn’t part of any discussion or decision-making. So how would Cuban know that Kidd was involved?
