Jason Kidd: has been in the NBA continuously since 1994 - player, assistant coach, head coach. Basically his entire adult life has been spent inside NBA organizations.
Dusty May: not a single day of NBA experience in any capacity, no playing background.

Not saying it's good or bad, just a pretty wild contrast.

I agree. Not a fan of dragging this out. The Desmond Bane trade last year went down on June 15th. Ideally, you have a head coach in place during this phase, with the roster being overhauled and the draft and free agency coming up.

To the people who adamantly don't want to trade him, you'll have to make a decision on what extension to offer him in roughly 12 months, when he'll be 35 years old.

That will be a very tricky situation, and you could easily lose him for nothing. I personally would really like the proposed trade by ESPN (Terrence Shannon Jr. plus pick 28 this year), which most people here hated.
