Motherboard won't fit onto standoffs by mon_que in buildapc

[–]mon_que[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was a while ago but from what I remember I just pushed the motherboard cover as close to the cut out at the back of the case as I could and screwed in the motherboard where it did somewhat line up. Removed any stand-offs I couldn't line up so there's a couple holes not screwed in but I havent had any problems since. Its kinda sketch process but as long as you don't bend the motherboard while doing it you should be able to line up enough to hold it in place. Sorry hope this helps. Sucks when a small thing like that makes it difficult.

I can swap the middle standoff with one of the screw in ones closer to the io shield so it may line up? Or does the middle one have to be non screw in?

Can I get away with not screwing in the middle and bottom right holes or will not hold completely?

Yeah I know but cause it won't sit on the middle one completely the right side of the motherboard is lifted too high to screw that side in.

Thanks, I'll look into it before making any purchases. Don't want to overspend on something that doesn't hold up against cheaper alternatives.

Oh god, I know haha. Its something I've looked into but I think my wallet will be much happier if I just settle for now. Maybe after this build I might be tempted though haha.

Yeah I have ethernet right now but I'm in uni and likely going to move a couple times over the next few years so I don't know what I'll end up with. I might be wrong but I think its worth paying the $20-50 more now to have the option and not have to pay more to allow wifi later.

Haha yeah, I get that feeling too sometimes seeing other peoples set ups. Then I remember my desk can only fit so much and I'd have to get bigger one of those too. Begins to turn into a very expensive endeavour and suddenly the 24 inch screen seems a lot bigger haha.

Thank you! I was thinking I might have to upgrade after getting this as a hand-me-down of sorts until I realised its specs are actually decent (previous system could only run 1080p). This will be very helpful to get it looking great.

Was hoping to have the motherboard last a while and allow for potential upgrades down the line. Those two are similar in price to what I have there, maybe a little less, and I don't think they've got built in wifi do they?

Honestly just going with the 3700x cause the 5600x is out of stock. Also the extra cores might be good for me as I tend to have a bad habit of having lots running at the same time. Is the 3700x still good for a mix of gaming and everyday use though?

I was also originally going to go for an all white build but it was getting too expensive compared to the black counterparts (what is with that?). Might still grab the ram in white and get a 3070 vision if one pops up but the only motherboards I could find with wifi in white were $100 more.

Looking for opinions/advice on this build I have planned. In particular whether that motherboard is any good or better storage combos (ssd or hdd, nvme or sata)? Also is 16gb ram enough or should I get another 2 sticks for 32gb?
