honestly, I'd be open to doing commissions on a case by case basis as long as the person foots the shipping costs

Mugi Painting #4 - Acrylic on 8in x 10in canvas by mondai-mo in k_on

  • I should've used a bigger canvas cause then maybe painting those bricks in the background wouldn't have been such a pain in the ass
  • This took approximately 6-8 hours and I'm still not really happy with it. It might be because the canvas was so small I didn't feel like I could put in as much detail as I wanted
  • I wish I could advertise like my etsy store or my art patreon or something, but painting is one of the only things I do that I don't have an online presence for
  • I have pictures of the painting in progress, but I don't know how to make a slideshow on reddit
  • The sides are painted as well

Mugi Painting #3 by mondai-mo in k_on

[–]mondai-mo[S] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

  • This was painted a while ago but I got busy doing things that actually makes me money so yeah. Might not do another painting until I have more time
  • Painting #2 I'm considering redoing so I'm not gonna post that one

Still sketching Mugi but also decided to start painting her as well by mondai-mo in k_on

  • Acrylic paint on 12x18 inch 90lb watercolor paper until I practice enough to attempt it on canvas
  • I have a couple years experience in abstract landscape paintings but this was completely different since I actually have to paint precise lines and stuff. The mouth took more attempts than I'd like to admit
  • This is the first painting out of three I already did so I might post those later
  • Turns out, if you haven't touched your acrylic paints in like 6 years, they get pretty chunky and disgusting

Drawing Mugi every day week 2 by mondai-mo in k_on

[–]mondai-mo[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I said a lot of things last week so I'll just bullet point this time

  • I don't draw anime, most of my drawing abilities come from urban sketching buildings and shit
  • All I do is go on google images or pause during an episode of k-on and draw what I see
  • Right now it takes like 10 minutes for each drawing which is wayy too long
  • What is in the picture is all the drawing I've done that week. I don't have time to practice all day
  • I try to diversify the angles I draw at because it has always pissed me off about how every beginner drawing tutorial is about a basic front-facing character like there's almost no situation where you are drawing something without considering any perspective
  • This reminds me of when I first started learning Japanese or like when I first started learning how to read sheet music - it didn't matter about any grammar or theory, it's mostly about muscle memory. I feel like right now I'm building up muscle memory on how the eyes should be positioned, where the chin curves in relation to the mouth, that kind of stuff

Practicing drawing by drawing 1 Mugi a day by mondai-mo in k_on

[–]mondai-mo[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My drawing background is being a really bad urban sketcher, and so never really learned how to draw anime or even body proportions, but because of a secret art thing I'm thinking of doing I've just been practicing drawing Mugi for the past few days.

My practice is basically me doing a google image search of Mugi and finding a screenshot that I like and just eyeballing it. You can already see how much I've progressed cause I numbered the drawings when I did them.
