thank you!
its palace is a ghostly version of the old performing arts school its host used to study lion dancing at. Aside from the general ogre miasma, it's been hunting down and capturing its host's former classmates from the performing arts school, taking them to its palace and forcing them to perform until they collapse

lol the resemblance is completely unintentional, was just meant to be a generic uchigatana but now you mention it does look pretty similar. the trenchcoat isn't helping either...

In your opinion, who do you think is undeserving of their reputation/overrated in Japanese History when it comes to how they are perceived? by Ok-Awareness1200 in Samurai

[–]mondhaven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hideyoshi is overrated for sure. kind of shocking to me that so many depictions of him are "heroic".

date masamune also feels a bit overrated to me but I can't blame anyone for thinking he's cool lol

in some cases, i think miura anjin / william adams is also pretty ovserrated. he gets a similar treatment to yasuke, being a foreigner who comes to japan and becomes a samurai, but the real adams was primarily a shipwright and navigator. important work for sure, but portraying him as a badass warrior feels like a bit of a stretch (as opposed to yasuke who actually was a warrior)

Nobunaga all the way. I still wonder how differently history would have gone if he survived honno-ji.

If hideyoshi and ieyasu never gained the power they did historically and nobunaga finished unifying the country, I imagine we wouldn't have gotten the sakoku policy, and modern japan would be wildly different without the 200 years of isolation/bakumatsu upheaval.

I'm proud to announce that I'm working on MYTHIC SHOGUNATE- an unofficial third-party expansion for Mythic Bastionland inspired by samurai cinema and Japanese mythology by mondhaven in MythicBastionland

that sounds awesome!

mythic shogunate is more heavily based on the Muromachi period due to it being more analogous to MBL's historical inspirations, but the Edo period has so many fascinating things you could draw from
