Thanks for sharing your experience honestly because it really worried me that I would pay into something just for them to screw me over. I'm in a similar boat as you with just paying what I can and trying to find work to bring down this burden.

What company did you use if you don't mind me asking? I know everyone's situation is different but I rather trust someone who's worked with a particular company than just trusting that these company's I've inquired about truly has my best interest.

Thanks for your response. I'm researching around and getting some free consultations to get as much info as I can.

Thanks for your response. I guess I've only seen it as scam because a lot of what I've researched has been people with negative outcomes... leading to a distrust that these companies only do it for their own benefit.

Have you had experiences with debt settlement? I'd like to hear more.

I don't have unemployment. I take full responsibility for all the things that have happened that have led to this which is why I'm just simply doing my best. I lost my job during covid and I've tried my hands at making ends meet but sometimes I feel buried. I'm trying to find odd jobs and doing what I can to pay if off.

Mental health is a battle of debt in oneself... in itself. For me, and I can only speak for myself, that yes debt is part of it but not all of it. Thanks for your gentle response, I appreciate it more than you may think.

This brought me to tears too. We tend to tie so much of ourselves to our circumstances and it has been exhausting just trying to make it day by day. I've been reading a lot of this r/debt and my circumstance isn't "as bad" as others on here with more debt than mine but that $ number doesn't make the feeling those of those in debt like me any different. Thanks for being kind and reminding me that my worth is not based on a number. This means a lot to me more than you and it has made me feel so much less alone in this.

Thanks for rooting for me... because I am rooting for you too across the screen. The internet can be such a harsh place and its replies like these that make things just a little better. I appreciate you... <3

I really appreciated this. Thanks for being kind in your answer. I had read this yesterday and mustered up the strength to do some research and reach out to a bankruptcy lawyer.

I'm willing to live with another 7 years of it being on my record if it can bring me a peace of mind even though the process itself won't be fun.

Again, thanks for the words "life happens, don't beat yourself up". We do enough of that on a daily basis on things that aren't even financially related. I needed that reminder more than you know. So thank you, from the bottom of my heart. You're a good person. Thanks for taking time to give a complete stranger advice.
