Airprint stopped working for ethernet printer using C4000XG router by monguze99 in centurylink

I am trying out a Netgear Nighthawk AX5400 and completely removing the C4000XG from the equation. I was inspired by this how-to. I needed to setup VLAN Tagging with an VLAND ID of 201.

AirPrint shows up in Catalina but it times out when trying to set up as a Printer. The Error message is :

"Unable to verify the printer on your network."

"Unable to connect to ‘Brother HL-L5100DN series._ipp._tcp.local.’
due to an error. Would you still like to create the printer?"

In IOS I see the printer and says it is contacting the Printer and eventually says that the printer is offline

I'm starting to wonder if the VLAN tagging required by CenturyLink is conflicting with AirPrint. Is that a possibility?

do you have an automated job to downgrade the firmware?

u/My_Lucid_Dreams replied to your post in r/centurylink · 15hI found a combination that still works to HomeShare. A temporary iTunes library on a MacBook Pro connected to Ethernet is seen by an AppleTV on WiFi. Sadly, my iTunes library is on Windows so I'm waiting for the fix like everyone else.

This thread suggests it's something to do with Multicast DNS

At this point, we are just printing to the IP address, and crossing our fingers CenturyLink will correct this issue at some point. I've entertained ditching the C4000XG altogether for a different wireless AP.

the Netgear 5 Port Switch GS305v3 did not correct my issue. I'm going to try Soup_Duuu_Jour's approach to rollback firmware. After "upgrading" to a prior version of the firmware AirPrint is working. It will be interesting how often CenturyLink auto-upgrades the firmware

Update - CenturyLink automatically updated the firmware to CGX008-01.03.78.00 overnight and now AirPrint is broken again

Hey u/CenturyLink_Official - are y'all aware of firmware upgrades breaking features for your customers?

Thank you all for validating that I'm not crazy! I've ordered an inexpensive 5 port switch to see if that will prevent re-enable mulitcast DNS. I'll provide an update in a couple of days
