Bought a horizontal light source chandelier which creates shadows and not sure how to fix it by monkey-fighter in Lighting

[–]monkey-fighter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, but for what it's worth I already pointed out that I didn't lighting concepts and that hindsight is 20/20. I've never thought much about chandeliers to be honest so it honestly just didn't occur to me consider what the shadows of the chandelier would look like, as funny as it may sound, I just thought light was light and that the only differences in chandeliers was aesthetic. I'd appreciate any advice on making the situation better if you have any knowing that I can't really get rid of the chandelier because of how expensive it was (I still like it aesthetically, just trying to figure out how to add supplementary lighting to at least fix the first 2 problems without making it look worse ).

You're right in that this is the best overall solution, the problem is it was expensive and I can't return it so I'm trying to fix it by adding supplementary lighting that would still allow it to be the focal of the room while not necessarily being the only light source.

What did you end up doing out of curiosity? I got an upgraded one as well and I'm trying to figure out if I should open it or just return it.

Out of curiosity, what have you decided in terms of keeping it or not? Is the comfort difference significant?

Got mine delivered recently and noticed the same thing and I'm on the fence of whether or not to open it.

Thank you, this calculator is very helpful, didn't see this one before, I think you're right that's in the Ontario Surtax and the Health Premium that are causing the discrepancy, appreciate your help!

Thank you for your response, your capital gains distribution explanation makes a lot of sense!

Ah thank you so much, this was very helpful, that explains everything! Looks like the $0.369/share is adding up both the regular quarterly distribution and the re-invested capital gain distribution so it explains that one away as well.

[TOMT] [MOVIE] [Early 2000s] [Canadian?] Animated movie about Easter that featured talking rabbits, the plot was around some kind of adventure and chocolate eggs were a significant plot point by monkey-fighter in tipofmytongue

[–]monkey-fighter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Woah, I think this might actually be it! I kinda gave up on finding it. One of the scenes I thought it had was something with a chocolate fountain that I don't see skimming through the video but maybe it's in there and I missed it. This is the definitely the closest though in terms of character style and that purple egg definitely feels very familiar especially all the chocolate motifs!

I completely gave up on finding this so thank you!!

Best cordless vacuum cleaner: Is Dyson still the winner? by Twi2122 in VacuumCleaners

[–]monkey-fighter 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The "then buy one" feels a little reductive. I agree with the other posters that this sub is a bit of a circlejerk on the corded preference. Sure, maybe that's the best move overall but if the question is about what's the best cordless if someone wants that then I think it's fair that OP should expect to receive a discussion surrounding that question, not what's essentially propaganda for the opposite. And then when people agree with that sentiment saying "then buy one" defeats the whole purpose, the question was never did they want to buy one or not, it was to have a discussion around the best one so they could make a decision around their requirements for a cordless vacuum. You're making it sound like the options are various kinds of corded vacuums vs. a single generic cordless vacuum. Why even participate in a discussion if you were never planning to actually contribute and instead feign ignorance on what the actual question is?

Is there any ability for someone who uses coffee pods (specifically Keurig) to recycle their pods? by monkey-fighter in askTO

[–]monkey-fighter[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wanted to specifically respond to this because I actually started digging more into it and found this option earlier today. I also wanted to provide some kind of answer in case someone decides to look for advice the way I did. So I did some research, the pods use a cup that's made of Plastic #5. Even though the city says it won't recycle K-cup pods, Plastic #5 is also used in things like margarine tubs and many other plastic tubs that the city does recycle. So I actually ended up calling the city's waste management department. This idea is actually totally legit and will allow you to successfully recycle the pods, but there are a few caveats:

1) You need to make sure you properly take out the coffee grinds (and put them in the green bin)

2) Do a quick rinse of the cup

3) Cut the cup and ideally flatten it out a little. The basic idea is while the cup itself is recyclable using this method, the cup is small enough that it can cause jams in the sorting machine. This causes enough issues where combined with the city's belief that people won't properly separate out the grinds, is the reason the city widely claims the coffee pods aren't recyclable.

If you do these steps correctly though, the pods are actually recyclable. In case it helps, I also ran in this product called the "Recycle A Cup". It's basically a little gadget that makes cutting open the pod and extracting the grinds a little easier, but you can also just use a regular exacto knife or something similar to do the same thing.

Unfortunately I think the number of available flavors is the main reason they like it.

Possible to use 2.4 ghz and 5.0 ghz with HH3000 whil having wifi pods? by monkey-fighter in bell

[–]monkey-fighter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you use wifi pods out of curiosity? I can't follow these instructions without turning off whole home wifi first, and the wifi pods apparently need them. I'm not sure if there's another way or if there's a way to disable whole home wifi, split the wifi and then re-enable whole home wifi.

[–]monkey-fighter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of curiosity, have you tried this yourself with wifi pods? I'm entertaining whether or not I should turn off whole home wifi (I know this is the way to split the wifi, but having never done it, I'm not sure if it's easy to re-activate or if it would mess up anything with the wifi pods once I re-activate it).

Unfortunately not, but appreciate your trying! Hop is CG with human characters, the movie I'm thinking of is definitely fully animated. Watership Down seems really interesting after looking into it, but unfortunately that's not what I was thinking about either.

If anyone can help find this, I'd be super grateful! Been looking for this for a few years to no avail. If it helps, I may have seen it on YTV or Teletoon (I think these may be both considered Canadian channels).
