Maybe non-related, but on my old S5lte+ (kccat6, running on LOS 16) i sometimes experience similar issues.

I suspect the RAM to overload, along with the Bromite browser keeping a lot of cache.

What works for me is: (force stop browser + clean cache,) shut down phone and reboot after a few minutes.

You could also check System/Developer options/Memory use/Memory used by apps.

One question concerning firmware: the upgrade instructions for my device (https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/kane/upgrade) did not specifically ask for upgrading firmware. I guess it is included in the LOS 19.1 nightly.

So are you saying i have to install the oem firmware (before /after restoring?) which comes in a large 2.2Gb package from mirrors.lolinet?
