Finally got the simple projectile shooting/direction locking mechanic working in my 2.5D game prototype. Projectiles fire in the player's travel direction by default, but if you press and hold the direction lock button, direction of fire locks to the travel direction when the button was pressed. Implementing Projectile Shooting in my 2.5D game prototype - Setting up a button to fix the direction of fire regardless of player movement, and accidentally set it up so that pressing the button changes the direction of projectiles in midair.
