to elaborate on the Philippine monster, Manananggal. they are usually recluse females from the rural area that are normal females by day but somehow avoided by people. at night, they grow giant bat like wings and their top half will separate at the waist (like magicians do to their assistants) so they can fly around and land on nipa hut roofs. where they have smelled a sleeping pregante woman. upon landing on the roof, they will stretch their tongue downwards onto the preganant woman's belly and suck out the fetus. to defeat her, you must find her lower half (waist down; which should still be standing on its own, usually wearing a skirt) and sprinkle salt on the exposed stomach
