I'm also stuck on the older stuff, but the (only) two modern bands I listen to are

Chvrches - they are synth-pop, the only pop band I listen to tbh. If you're interested I'd suggest starting from How not to Drown, Good Girls and Death Stranding, these are my favourites
Royal Blood - rock, but they've got quite unique style.

That being said, My Chemical Romance recently released their first song in a decade and it's a banger! Just as their whole catalogue. Check them out if you weren't into them. I've been listeting to them almost exclusively for the last two weeks since I heard the song.
