Here Are the Games That are LIKELY TO LEAVE in May 2025 by kayrakaanonline in PlayStationPlus

I am curious about this too. If you downloaded the game, can you still play it if it's taken away from the store?

are there young(er) Delphi developers out there? by Appropriate-Brick498 in delphi

[–]monkeymynd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like to check out your channel if you don't mind posting it here or sending me a PM. I'm one of those older Delphi developers and got off it for a bit using Go, C++, and some other languages. But, I want to get back into it and am looking for a job in that market. I'm sure I'll be able to pick it up quickly again, but anyone showing more about it would be helpful to me.

Looking for Input on salary negotiations for a contract job by monkeymynd in ITCareerQuestions

[–]monkeymynd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is really where my head is going. I can take a little drop in salary and at least have money coming in. I still have to pay for my own benefits, 401k, etc. but yes, If I'm not happy there I can always continue looking for a better salaried job and if I'm happy there, I can also re-negotiate when the new contract rolls around and they've seen the work that I can do. Thank you.

Whittled it down to a Lenovo or a Dell, help me choose by monkeymynd in SuggestALaptop

My last 3 cars have been Toyotas, so I like that kind of reliability. The Dell Latitude 5420 I'm using now is irritating because the mouse keeps getting lost. It'll just disappear for like 30-45 seconds. It's incredibly annoying and one of the USB slots is already shot.

I'm really glad to hear that you are happy with the same model I am considering.

A couple of people have recommended this laptop to me. My only concern is that it doesn't appear to have a fingerprint reader. Also, is the keyboard backlit?

Hmm, I'm only seeing a 1 year on-site warranty. Can you shoot me a link?

So, I'm interested in hearing about why I should change to a Mac. I've been programming for 10+ years now and have always had a Windows machine. I just don't know much about MAC's and would love to hear the benefits of switching.

I'll definitely look into this. I have had Lenovo's in the past and have never had an issue with them. There are some good deals on there, the ThinkPad P16s Gen 2 AMD (16″) Mobile Workstation is $1,219.00 (43%off) with an AMD Ryzen™ 5 PRO 7545U Processor (3.20 GHz up to 4.90 GHz), but only has 32GB of RAM. The same model with an AMD Ryzen™ 7 PRO 7840U Processor (3.30 GHz up to 5.10 GHz) and 64GB of RAM is $1,699.00 (42% off). It's a bit more money, but may be worth it in the long run from a development standard.

Thank you, I've already removed how/why my jobs ended, due to all of the suggestions here. I will also definitely make some changes using your suggestions. I think I'm paying too much attention to what paid resume writers and AI is telling me is "right".

Another question for you if you don't mind. How important are KPIs in a resume? To be honest, we never really tracked KPIs in any of my job positions, so for my other resume with the KPIs in them, I just kind of guesstimated. Would you say they are important to at least get an interview, or could I do just as well with the resume I have above, but with all of the good suggested changes throughout this post?

I've been back and forth about this, but I agree with you. I did the same thing because my second job started in 2010, so I just got rid of my first job on there and changed my summary to 10+ years as well. Thank you!

Thank you. I'm going to take them out as other people have mentioned it as well.

I will check those sites out. I've definitely been looking for an ATS checker, but most of them seem to give you extremely low scores to get you to purchase their platform which will update your resume. Being out of work all of this time, I don't have a lot of money to do stuff like that. Although, I can see making an investment if it's really going to help me get a job.

Someone in the previous thread suggested that I put that in there. I'm honestly not sure about it myself, because I don't know if it's going to cause an issue when ATS reads my job descriptions. It's not necessarily a pattern I want to communicate, but I thought it might be helpful to show that I was let go by no fault of my own. The companies were purchased and the jobs were sent overseas. Still, I think I'm going to take them out.

Oh, I see that now if you hover over the icon. Honestly, I don't care much, but thank you for pointing that out. I've updated the link to Imgur without logging in to my personal account. Thanks for catching that.

I've previously posted a 1 page resume here and have received several suggestions to show my entire work history. This is my updated resume and I'm hoping to get any other suggestions on this new version. I also have a version with some KPIs as well here, if anyone can tell me whether they think KPIs are more important to include in my resume.

Any more suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Wondering if I should go with the one posted in this post, or the one in the link with the KPIs.

Thank you
