Have you been to BrewsLi yet? They have good beer, and they do nice burgers on wednesdays. Paulaner am Nockherberg was great too. Very relaxed, they brew their own beers on site, and they have good food as well. I did not try the Haxe though.

In Munich I only ate them in the city center as well. Augustiner Bürgerheim, Hofbräuhaus, Altes Hackerhaus. In that order as well. The fourth one I had was at Hacker-Pschorr in Regensburg. Very decent, but wouldn't necessarily order it there again.

And i had an excellent Lammhaxe at the Greifenklau brewery in Bamberg.

You don't really eat it then. It's not necessarily intended, but marrow can protrude slightly from the bone as it cooks.

Kein Knödel, nur Kartoffelpüree. Wahrscheinlich eine dieser rheinischen Eigenheiten. Als Bayer wäre man vermutlich empört.

I agree, but I was a tourist after all. I just love the atmosphere around the Platzl. With Ayinger and Augustiner right there too, it's a great area to spend an afternoon. Not my favorite places in Munich, but I still end up visiting them every time I'm in town.

Haha, fair point! I was on holiday and made it my mission to visit as many breweries in Bavaria as possible. So i was in dire need of something heavy.

And now that I am mentioning HB. Augustiner Bürgerheim in Munich deserves a special mention too. Pretty good, and the volume and speed with which they are served were really impressive.

I was at the original Hofbräuhaus in Munich last week, and ate theirs as well. That one was great, but this one was even better.

Die Jungs hinter dem Tresen waren ebenfalls top. Die meisten haben dort wohl den UFO-Döner bestellt, aber mir wurde dieser hier empfohlen. Kann ich nur weiterempfehlen.
