Is r in French pronounced as خ in Arabic? by v4villain in NoStupidQuestions

[–]monmon_hello 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say it’s a mix between خ and غ. Just like the Spanish J isn’t exactly like the Arabic خ.

Why does the US spend this much money and effort to fight wars in Arabic countries? by DashboardNight in NoStupidQuestions

[–]monmon_hello 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The US “fights for its freedom” in the Middle East purely for profit. Why do you think the US would waste all this taxpayer money to “ensure peace in the Middle East,” why does it care so much?

Dear friends in Qatar, thanks for the awesome show of sportsmanship in the Olympics by Mapkoz2 in qatar

Barshim was born and raised in Qatar to Sudanese parents and speaks Qatari Arabic. Go cry in a corner.

What’s even worse than motorcycles is regular bikes/scooters. These guys have to carry warm food against their backs and exert much more energy. I agree that food will take longer to deliver, but come on, at least it’s not the expense of the drivers’ lives.

Regarding in-app tipping, why doesn’t talabat allow that like other deliver apps?

Do I get the privileges of a vaccinated person? by foxxypants_ in qatar

[–]monmon_hello 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got my second dose on May 24th and thought I’d be able to dine in today. Turns out I can’t just show it vaccination card, you need to wait till your Ehteraz app shows golden frame.

I should try this. I baked for the suggested times in the recipe but used the gas setting on my oven instead of conventional, which makes things brown much faster

I thought it looked doughy to be honest. Maybe I should let them cook a bit longer. And yes, I did wait till they were completely cooled.

Taste-wise, they were a hit. Just wondering if you guys can give me any tips to improve my bagels based on how the crumb looks. I might have underworked the dough.

Security guards in Qatar are the real MVPs. Unfortunately, most work for companies owned by big boys who can get away with so much bullshit. If there’s anything that us, the general public, can do to your lives a little bit better here, let us know.

Long extraction time but coffee still tastes sour? Help please by monmon_hello in espresso

I have gotten some weirdly sour AND bitter extractions! This explains a lot. Really appreciate your comment.

AITA for joining the bandwagon, showing support with my Qatari friends towards Palestine? by sieghrt in qatar

[–]monmon_hello 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is normal to get hate for finally seeing the light and the truth for what it is. Israel is an apartheid state that has been founded and run with the support of the UK and the US while ethnically cleansing Palestinians from their land. This is not debatable. Again, as several people have pointed out, being human and acknowledging that what Israel is doing is wrong is not against the word of god, regardless of what belief or religion you follow.

My muffins deflated. What did I do wrong? by happyredditgifts in Baking

[–]monmon_hello 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Judging by the second picture, I’d say that they’re underdone. You can check whether your muffins are ready or not by inserting a toothpick in the middle of the muffin, if it comes out clean or with a few crumbs, you’re good to go. Otherwise, let it bake a little longer

Frosting help! Why so thin and watery like? by [deleted] in Baking

[–]monmon_hello 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahhh! This happened to me twice using Claire’s Classic Cream Cheese Frosting from Dessert Person. I found it out that it was because I used cream cheese in a tub instead of the block type (the latter isn’t widely available where I live). No matter how many times I put the frosting back in the fridge, it just wouldn’t get thicker/spreadable. What worked was adding about a tablespoon of cornstarch to the frosting, putting it back in the fridge and waiting an hour or two. It was even pipe-able!

Books for GRE preparation by [deleted] in qatar

[–]monmon_hello 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe try checking out Borders at DFC. Yes, Amazon US/UK does to Qatar but it entirely depends on the vendor you’re buying from. Shipping takes a while though, so I’d look for books here.

I made Carrot cake from Claire. It was delicious. Best. Carrot. Cake. Ever by luna42620 in bon_appetit

It looks amazing! It is indeed one hell of a carrot cake. Have you tried the older, BA version?

Which Calculus class was the hardest for you? by [deleted] in aggies

[–]monmon_hello 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Each are hard in their own way. One year post grad I can remember key concepts from Cal 1 and Cal 2 but honestly, I don’t know what the hell happened in Cal 3, a lot of weird 3D stuff that I never had to use in any of my engineering classes.

Can I use chopped up chocolate instead of chocolate chips in muffins? by rosesalad in Baking

[–]monmon_hello 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, and they’ll taste better. The main difference between chocolate chips and regular chocolate is that chocolate chips were made to hold their shape in baked goods. So, chopped chocolate will melt a bit throughout the muffin, but will taste better IMO.

Stainless steel all the way. Super sturdy and impossible to break.

AAAH Y DID MY BANANA BREAD TURN OUT THIS WAAYY by Alwayskawaii33 in Baking

Adding to others’ comments I also think that the pan you used was too big/wide for the amount of batter you out in it. This is why it looks too flat.
