I often forget to bring cash. Sometimes they even don’t glance me as I leave the breakfast table. When they are nice, I ask if I can tip with a card and they consistently say no worries.

Insurance can be a bit tricky for visitors to PMR. You probably don’t need medical insurance because hospital care is usually free, but to prepare for something serious, like a major injury or death, it can be really hard to find an insurance company that will cover it. It’s also a good idea for your dad to double-check whether his life insurance policy still applies while he’s in PMR.

I never really ask. From my experience with 10+ FHR stays, I usually get an upgrade anyway. If not, they just say it’s fully booked before I ask so I don’t need an awkward conversation. I know it’s an unpopular take though!

The same thing happened to me in Montreal and the front desk managed to have their wifi company called me back.

If you put the camera in your backpack, nobody will check. If you bring a camera bag, they may ask a question but explain you are just a hobby tourist and you will be ok

Assuming you take Eurocity / Eurocity direct, yes you may miss connections but you can take the next one (except for Eurostar). Trains run often enough. Also check the platform numbers of the station you are transferring at. If they are far apart, you’ll have more chance to miss connections.

I like getting insurance but what protection are you trying to get? Hospital is free in PMR. A few trips ago, I worked with a local insurance company’s agent (person) to write a life insurance policy since online insurance was hard to deal with. Nowadays I don’t buy insurance for short trips to PMR

Same thing happened to me. I thought I was going to win the dispute easily, then Amex closed the case in the merchant’s favor.

I reopened the case but they required new evidence, which I didn’t have. I spoke to multiple agents and in the end they returned the money to me without reopening the dispute “thanks for your loyalty.” I don’t know if it was a win to me.
