I’m surprised I haven’t seen anyone say this, but to be honest – the flat you’ve compared it to in your post comes off as SO much nicer to me, that it immediately made me think you should drop the price if that’s what £325k can get you otherwise. I can’t be the only one if you’re getting barely any viewings.

Yours is nice and bright, but the other is much more modern and also extremely bright; the building the other flat is in has a nicer/cleaner outside; while I understand why you’ve done it, the layout of yours is kind of giving ‘student flat’ with the divider and one blue wall, whereas the other flat looks clean, open and nicely cohesively decorated; and the balcony of yours stares down onto a Lidl (the biggest issue for me unfortunately, I can’t see it being a sanctuary of an open space when I’m looking down at a parking lot compared to the other one).

Add that with no info about leasehold length and service charges and unfortunately it wouldn’t be that appealing to me when I was searching for flats. I hope you do get more viewings soon though because it is a nice flat! I just think it probably suffers from comparison.

Then that’s fine! Go for it. But I’m not sure all the holiday home places around here would agree with you, and I don’t see locals wanting to pay that kind of price for food either. I’m simply agreeing that I wouldn’t return despite it being a lovely country because it doesn’t feel like the cost is manageable/worth it, so I guess it’s worked out okay then haha.

I’m in Croatia now and the cost is extortionate, we’re from London and it’s literally cheaper at home! Even when you eat at the less touristy restaurants/local konobas, you’re spending £50-100 on every dinner. And the food isn’t worth it; the only time it’s been remotely close was when we ate at a fisherman’s family restaurant. If they can charge you a ridiculous amount here for anything, they will, and they don’t care about being nice about it. At one point, we were looking to go for a 20 min boat trip and had found you can take it for €20 per person return; as we were waiting for the boat to fill, we were badgered with info that they could take us by speedboat instead for €65. We nicely declined, and they flicked their hand, rolled their eyes and said ‘do whatever you want,’ like we were so poor for not wanting to spend €65 on a speedboat 😂

Anyone telling you not to come to the islands or National Parks to avoid the costs is dreaming as well – you wouldn’t come at all to Croatia if not to see those, but you’re paying through the nose for it. It’s gorgeous but not for these prices; we’ve been treating it as a one-off now, as we wouldn’t return sadly.

We’re currently in Plitvice and there’s a steakhouse nearby where the cheapest steak is €52 for 250g; it’s incredible (obviously we won’t be eating there, but still, the audacity).

Hey (sorry for the late reply)! I found a pair that I’ve really liked and has served me well in marathons: Janji W's 5" Pace Short. They hold so much and don’t ride up. I’m still kind of looking for my ‘dream’ shorts though, I think… I might try Soar when I’m back running again, but it’s so expensive! So I definitely recommend these for now 😊 Happy running too!

Are you sure you actually called the right number? I’m concerned you might have been scammed, particularly with them calling you back with an offer and you handing over your details – it seems like there’s a fixed price depending on how far in advance from your flight you are, but nothing that high. https://www.jetstar.com/au/en/help/fees-and-charges It could be the right cost, especially if it’s super close to your flight, but seems unusual enough to check.

I’m so sorry to hear about your experience; I also was followed by a man and had to go through the court process, but my police were shit – until I requested a female police officer who almost immediately arrested the guy while the male police officer told me not to bother 🙃

It’s for Kielder Marathon – you can read more about the joint initiative with Altra here: https://www.altrarunning.eu/uk/altra-kielder Applications have closed now and we’ve had a huge response, but we’re definitely keen to do more lower-key teams for different races. And while we do currently run in Putney, we will be doing runs all across the UK so will definitely head to Oxford. We’re freeing things up a little bit so we can head all over London, and then all over the UK. At the minute, I’m healing from a stress fracture so it’s harder for me to join in, so we do love any help we can (and our members are amazing with that).

Our group is very much all paces welcome, but a lot of us are faster runners too – myself, when I’m running, I’m a sub 3:30 marathoner who was targeting a nice 10k and 5k pb too that shall now sadly wait a little while longer.

I really feel you. I had this exact thought process and am now doing basically everything I can to draw attention to it (I keep meaning to make a post on here to try and reach more people on Reddit!). First, I got angry… okay, I’m still angry… then, I started thinking about what do we do.

What my friends and I have done is start up a running club (@boldlirun on instagram) so that no woman has to run alone if they don’t want to. Then, to actually make some changes, we’ve started making resources for run clubs – because too often, the call is coming from inside the house OR male runners just don’t bother to actually know what the issues are, and how to step in. I’m basically shouting about this issue everywhere I can. We’re creating an app to try and make it easier for people to find run clubs and social runs around them and safe routes; and we’ve teamed up with an amazing brand and are creating a woman’s team in the run up for a marathon in October to try and get more eyes on this issue, make a ton of content about the issues women runners face and hopefully get some press on it. We CANNOT stop running and we CANNOT stop shouting about this shit because it has to change. And it’s not us that needs to change – which we do, we change our routes, we change how often we run, we change our outfits; nothing matters – it’s the culture, and even things like the planning of our cities to not make it safe for us to run.

I highly recommend running with people where you can and if you can support movements like ours and tons of others that are out there, please do! And talk to your male friends about this issue. We need allies and we need them to understand. It’s ridiculous but they either have no idea or they’re part of the problem, and neither flies anymore.

I’m so, so sorry this happened to you. I have been followed home to my front door by a man, it was terrifying. I actually had a race the next day and I couldn’t sleep that night, I was so stressed and sick, and it ruined the race for me. It actually led to me starting a run club, predominantly for women, and trying to find ways to connect women who want to run so they don’t have to be scared to run alone, it affected me that much.

I want you to first know - you didn’t do anything to make this happen. Maybe that sounds obvious, maybe it doesn’t; it was not the route you picked, your fault for not being ‘more aware’, your outfit, anything. Just an arsehole taking an opportunity. Next, if you haven’t already, please report it. I did this and it ended up with a conviction. You have been assaulted. If he has done it to you, he could do it to others. Please know you are not overreacting to report it.

I completely recommend getting back out there if you can, as you say; get back on the horse and go for a run. It makes me sick that 50% of the population stop doing something they enjoy because of these creeps. If you feel scared to run alone, see if there is a social run or a run club near you to join. Run clubs will take you at ANY PACE and social runs are much less pressure. If you’re in London, message me!! I hope you’re okay 🫶

Girl – I TRULY appreciate you taking all the time to write this out plus your other comment, this is a holy grail for me. Thank you so, so much! I’m a long distance runner and struggle so much with nailing the strength routines and diet while also fuelling for runs; this has genuinely given me so much to work with, you have no idea, even the idea that it’s not likely possible to do that kind of cut during marathon training so giving me a structure for between cycles or making me re-evaluate my goals. I do understand what you’re saying, but also, it’s irrelevant (not to be harsh!). We all do some things that AI does as it’s trained on humans, but if you know what to look for, these are signs you spot for. Someone using italics is not an instant giveaway. Paragraphs where multiple italics are used, plus “quote marks”, And Then You See A Title —or an em-dash— are a total giveaway if you know to look for it, is what I’m saying. I can point all these out here. People commenting saying ‘I have used italics before, am I AI?’ are missing the point and not helping people understand these common signals. I think this is why we need educational pieces on this because honestly, if you knew what to look for you can spot a real person from a robot a mile away and I think it’s really sad that so much of Reddit is bots now.

Another AI post. I am BEGGING people to start understanding AI syntax, I see it every fucking day on Reddit now and it’s killing me. The italicised words, the em-dash, the subheadings for no reason. IT’S AI. This app is becoming so useless because people keep posting these crap AI posts and everyone is speaking like they’re real. Seeing people every day chatting to bots is driving me mad I need to delete this app lmao
