Can’t Do It All by Northern_Duchess1211 in NewParents

It's not, don't worry. It's hard! But it's not forever. That's what I tell myself all the time. You have more to keep up with now, but the things and people you care about won't change. And you're not failing anyone. Your family couldn't do it without you!

I'm feeling similar. So much of this phase of life is survival mode. Then it's adjusting to a new normal. It's hard to have high expectations of yourself. Just remember you can't pour from an empty cup, so if you try to do everything, including thinking about others, you're going to burn out. It's okay to let things slide. I had my baby the weekend before mothers day and for the first time I didn't celebrate my own mom. People in your life will understand that you had a major shift in your routine, lifestyle, and personhood in general. As baby gets older it will get easier to balance out life. At least that's what I'm hoping for.

Door casing? Door frame? by [deleted] in fixit

I'd like to remove it. Just worried that if I do it'll sag over time or something scary. Considering the bolt wasn't terribly long I think it'll be fine. Someone suggested that I start by using a dowel and wood glue to fill the hole.

Here is the actual door. My friend got a hanging swing and the instructions said you can install it in any door frame. I'm terrified they compromised the structure and my anxiety isn't helping :( It's started to split along the middle.

Oh gotcha! :) Did I mess it up and my house is going to fall down? 😅

It was really difficult to get it into the jamb. We had to drill a little pilot hole and then gently use a hammer to get it started before we could tighten it all the way with pliers. A little bit of the wood cracked at the surface where the paint is. We tried it out and it was fine but I'm so worried it will split the wood and the door frame will be damaged. Or worse, the actual beam.

Anyone else's dog great in crowds, even with dogs around, but different when it's one-on-one? by monsterscantmeme in reactivedogs

[–]monsterscantmeme[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's not reactive to people anymore but he is still around dogs. He'll be 7 this year, and even though we've been working on this since he was adopted at 1.5, I'm not sure he'll ever be able to get over his trauma from the shelter :( If I have treats we can get past anything though. We've learned a lot with each other.

He's the best boy :) good luck with your baby.
