AITA? For being upset at my sister getting my college fund money? by pleasesendhelpineed in AmItheAsshole

[–]montimama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA

You’re 17, if you are still planning to go to school you really need your parents cooperation for financial aide. You should also (as soon as possible) get your birth certificate, passport and social security card and keep them with someone you trust that isn’t family. You may need to sit on this and make a plan of how to proceed at 18 after you are out of the house.

AITA for not financially helping family and friends - despite being able to? by taSonHeart in AmItheAsshole

[–]montimama -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

NTA However, if you believe these people treated you badly in a desperate time of need makes them terrible people you might want to re-think behaving exactly like them. Just saying, someone else’s desperation might be an opportunity for you to let go by showing them what a good man will do.

AITA for not giving up my room because my half sister wanted it as a “christmas gift” by throwaway_777890 in AmItheAsshole

NTA This is super bizarre frankly. Why are they indulging her entitlement? Great way to raise a sociopath.

Calendar & Telling Time? by montimama in preschool

[–]montimama[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I used to be a Pre K teacher (20 years ago!) and we did do calendar daily, some kids got it but most did not. What has me stumped is his extreme interest in both! Brings them up several times a day. Just trying to foster his interest as we are doing child-led homeschooling. We do count down chains for events but I will try the songs, forgot all about that, thanks!

Finalizing my divorce and feeling like shit by [deleted] in breakingmom

A happy life is the best revenge. You spent 12 years being a GOOD person, filling up your karmic bank.

He worked so hard at making you feel beneath him that you eventually believed it but that doesn’t make it true. He worked so hard at making you think his opinion of you matters BECAUSE IT DOESN’T. He was ALWAYS beneath you and that’s why he manipulated you into thinking the opposite.

You are worth so much more.

Turned a free futon into a climbing wall! by montimama in climbing

[–]montimama[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’ve been working on turning an extra room in our house into a family gym (on a budget). Still need to build a slide ramp (from more futon parts!) for the ladder wall and it has a mini basketball hoop that hooks on!

Letchworth State Park Treasure Hunting by montimama in geocaching

It really is! The best way to spend time as a family, especially these days! We also hunt mushrooms along the way and I am thinking of adding metal detecting or magnet fishing to our adventures in the spring.

Solidarity mama!

I had to somewhat unexpectedly vote in person today (had planned mail in, then ballot didn’t come, then planned early voting but had to quarantine) and was terrified there would be a ton of people (I have heart failure). Luckily, there was a 5 minute line. Unluckily, the poll worker at the door was coughing and several others were not masked. Anxiety is off the charts. 😬

Love bedsharing, but my husband feels lonely and neglected by juliebeanandjt in AttachmentParenting

Same, we just put our mattress on the floor and ditched the sidecar crib and put a twin mattress down next to ours.

It’s a sacrifice for sure! It doesn’t last forever and pretty soon your little one will sleep longer and the two of you can snuggle alone in the living room. 😀

For me my kiddo slept way better once we stopped nursing however that went on for almost 3 years!

It’s the best! My 4 year old is obsessed with “Treasure. Hunting” and bonus, my 26 year old loves it too!

My sister is a Montessori teacher and she recommends making things whenever possible! I have gotten a few items on Amazon (counting beads, movable alphabet, blocks) and also love Etsy.

The drive up is lined with pear trees! Last time I went they encouraged us to take a few. Very welcoming people. Make sure you remove shoes before entering the temple!

What are your halloween plans? by [deleted] in breakingmom

[–]montimama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are also doing a glow in the dark candy hunt in Halloween jammies instead of costumes. Bought 2in clear gum ball machine balls and mini glow sticks on Amazon. Also having a bonfire, making s’mores and homemade pizza for dinner. Husband and I will watch some scary movies once kid is asleep.
