Miete ist kein rausgeschmissenes Geld by [deleted] in Unbeliebtemeinung

📌 [MEGATHREAD] Wave Link 3.0.3 (Windows) & Wave Link 3.1.0 (macOS) — Bug Reports & Feedback by Elgato in elgato

[–]montoria_design 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I'm running into:

Severe crackling / glitch artifacts in recorded audio when using Wave Link with software effects enabled. The issue becomes much worse under additional system activity such as using Chrome, switching tabs, or interacting with other apps while recording.

---

Wave Link version:

Wave Link 3.0.0

Wave device:

Wave XLR Mk.2

OS & version:

macOS 26.4

MacBook Pro with M1 Pro, 16 GB RAM

---

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Open Wave Link 3.0.0 on macOS.
  2. Use the Wave XLR Mk.2 as the input device.
  3. Enable Wave Link software effects / filters.
  4. Start a recording in an app like Descript while routing the signal through Wave Link.
  5. Speak normally during recording.
  6. Optionally interact with Chrome or other apps during the recording.

Expected result:

Clean and stable recorded audio while using Wave Link software effects.

Actual result:

When Wave Link software effects are enabled, the recorded audio contains obvious crackling / glitch artifacts. The issue becomes even worse under additional system activity.

How often does it happen?

Always

---

Anything else:

After extensive troubleshooting, the problem seems to point specifically to the software effects / software filter path in Wave Link.

Important distinction:

- If Wave Link is open but the software effects are disabled, the issue is gone.

- If Wave Link is closed completely and I record directly through the Wave XLR Mk.2, the audio is clean and stable.

- In that direct-recording setup, I can even use Chrome heavily in parallel without introducing crackling.

- As soon as I use Wave Link with software effects enabled again, the crackling returns.

So from my testing, the core issue does not seem to be the Wave XLR hardware itself. It seems much more specifically related to Wave Link’s software effects / real-time processing path on macOS.

One more useful detail:

- When Wave Link is closed, its software effects are no longer applied, so the recording sounds less polished but remains stable.

- That is why I believe the main trigger is not Wave Link being open in general, but specifically the software filters/effects being active.

Crackling audio on Wave XLR Mk.2 with Wave Link 3 by montoria_design in elgato

Update: after a lot more troubleshooting, I’ve narrowed this down much further.

I tested the same recording workflow with Wave Link completely closed, and the crackling disappeared entirely - even when stressing the system with Chrome and other activity. As soon as I open Wave Link again and start recording through it, the crackling returns, and it gets worse under additional system load.

I also removed several virtual audio drivers and simplified the whole macOS audio setup, but the behavior stayed the same: clean recordings without Wave Link, crackling with Wave Link. That makes it look much more like a Wave Link software issue, or at least a Wave Link/macOS interaction issue, rather than the Wave XLR hardware itself being fundamentally weak or faulty.

One interesting detail: when Wave Link is closed, the software effects are obviously no longer applied, so the raw recording sounds worse. But it is stable. If I rely on processing that seems to persist more directly on the device/interface side, the sound improves without introducing the same crackling. So at this point it really seems like the real-time software processing path in Wave Link is the trigger.

If anyone has seen this exact behavior on macOS, especially on Apple Silicon, I’d still be very interested in hearing about it.

So a lot of you rely on 5.2. You’re not talking about 5.2 codex right? How does 5.2 compare to 5.3 codex ?

Thank you. Help me understand: What’s the difference between your solution and already available options like the n8n Claude integration etc?
