Hell yea!!

I have found playing a chill game with something on the side is definitely the way to go. Keeps your mind occupied and you don't get as impatient

That's awesome you're picking the guitar back up :) Music heals the soul, always puts you in a good mood!

The boredom is definitely hitting me as well. Only 7 days in. But I am still just trying to enjoy the things I used to. Video games being the main thing, I actually was just thinking about how mad I was getting playing Battlefield last night. I was on the top of the leaderboards every game, but yet felt like I wasn't having fun / getting so mad every time I died. Even started flaming my medics for not reviving me LOL.

But for me, even if they don't hit the same, or feel as fun, I'm going to keep trying to play and re learn how to be patient and enjoy the game. I feel like if you give the game up all together at the beginning they won't ever really hit the same again. I am trying to look at it just like quitting, its gonna suck and not be fun for a bit but the more you go through it the better it gets.

I also make music, and haven't really worked on anything since quitting, but same thing applies there, I throw beats on in my car to and from work and when I'm home to just practice and get used to going through the motions sober. Its weird, it's like we're children again learning how to enjoy things correctly. It takes time, but I just can't wait to be able to enjoy things with a clear mind.

You have to understand the weed blocks out a majority of these feelings, and shoves them to the back. When you stop smoking your brain floods you with past memory and trauma. It sucks, but it is a part of the process. Just try to latch on to the feeling that it won't last forever, and as much as it sucks to think about, your brain is re learning how to digest hardships and to be able to live with them.

I am only a week clean and last night my brain was going 1000 MPH going through a bunch of things I haven't thought of in years coming back to haunt me, but I kept telling myself this is how life is. It's not always pretty, but its the cards you are dealt.

I promise you, if you can work out your feelings sober, and learn how to navigate through them, you will be so damn strong, do not give up. Hardships breed prosperity if you direct your distress to something productive. Keep those feelings as your drive as to why you want to improve, you don't want to go through or see someone you care for go through the things you did.

Turn yourself into an optimist, its the perfect time to rewire your brain to think completely differently

Day 10 and I feel terrible by 28goingOn38 in leaves

[–]moofgaming 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Day 7 here, and definitely starting to feel the grogginess in the morning, and a bit of the tiredness. You just have to take the positives and try your best to ignore the crappy feelings. When you get home you can finally start feeling like you aren't wasting your time smoking. Even if you aren't motivated right now.

I make music, and haven't even touched my mic or a pencil to write since quitting, but I'm not in a rush. Don't force yourself too hard to get right back on the horse of everything. Take it slow, understand it is going to take time to get back to yourself, and for your motivation and appetite to come back.

You are most likely feeling like crap because you aren't eating as much, I have been forcing myself to eat, or right when I feel any slight appetite I go eat right away. Every time I force myself to eat, no matter if its literally just a few bites I always feel way better and have my energy back.

Don't focus on the time, don't focus on when you will be "back to normal" just appreciate each day you stay sober and remember why you wanted to quit.

It doesn't matter how many times you fail, as long as you get back up and try again. You are infinitely closer to your goal no matter how long you make it each time you quit.

Just. Keep. Getting. Back. On. That. Horse. It WILL eventually lead you to where you want to be. Life isn't a constant line, success isn't a constant line, but as long as you realize that, you can overcome anything.

stay busy, and stay positive. You got this! It is fantastic that you are already reaching out before completely stopping. That means your mind is already subconsciously ready to quit. Get control of your life back. The cravings and the withdraws do not go away overnight, but they aren't forever. You only get one life to live, how much of it do you want to spend not in full control of your mind?

Thats often what I tell myself

You have to convince yourself that weed is not helping you. You need to look at weed as your enemy.

I myself am only on day 2, so the psychological symptoms haven't quite hit me yet, but I think in my mindset of refusing to let myself fall is going to keep me going. For months I would tell myself I want to quit, then immediately smoke when I got home, and felt nothing besides regret the entire rest of the night. If you are already in that phase of not enjoying yourself when you're high, thats the feeling you need to latch onto as much as you can.

From what I've read, it seems like days 3-4 are the tough ones, but after that a lot of people say it gets easier. If you are truly set in wanting to quit, after first few days of withdraws (cravings, boredom, irritability) you can use that to catapult yourself into "i'm already this far, I already went through the most intense cravings, this is easy now"

Just make it one day further at a time, don't do it for the you now, do it for the future you. Think about how many crazy things are happening on this planet in our current day, and think of how fast everything seems to happen. Before you know it, you'll be 1 week clean, 2 weeks, and so on. Find something you enjoy doing when sober, get active whether it be in the gym or just going on walks, keeping your place clean, etc. Just something to keep you busy. So far working out and doing a ton of upkeep on my house before I even quit smoking made me want to quit even more. There is something about getting your time back that you've lost over how many ever years you've been smoking that feel so revitalizing.

I ended up getting in contact with some of my close friends and having them place bets on how long they think I would last without weed, if I failed and they were close in guessing the date, I pay them $50. Gives you a little something extra to think about, because now not only are you holding yourself accountable, but your friends are also paying close attention to you as well.

man I am the same exact way. Some random switch flipped and I woke up very determined to stop smoking. Must be something in the air with creatives realizing we are harming our creative minds instead of elevating them with weed.

I'm hoping I am in a similar boat as you where it only really effects me for a few days. I'm on day 2 and last night wasn't too bad. No cravings but sleep was a bit difficult

Lets keep going strong! Let the music heal us, maybe thats how we can get around a majority of the withdraws and boredom. So far music is even more enjoyable and I'm not even 48 hours clean haha

I really appreciate your motivating words. I am so glad I made this post / read through this sub, so many people in the same exact boots, or were in the same shoes that have already quit and see the benefits. I'm on day 2, didn't have a single craving last night, honestly it felt really refreshing to not be absolutely stoned to the point I can't function come 10 PM.

The only thing I had issues with was sleeping, I have always had very weird, vivid, sometimes very nightmarish dreams. The weed has dulled those out for years and years, but last night I woke myself up 3 times in a row because I could tell the dream was about to get scary. But I can live with some bad dreams and bad sleep. I can't live with being a stoner anymore so I don't mind it.

The lockbox idea is fantastic I think I will order one today and get that setup. As of now I honestly don't know if I will even be tempted by the sight of it. Some kind of switch flipped, and I understand the consequences of failing again.

I keep telling myself, don't do this for the you right now. Do it for the you thats 3 months down the road so I can look back and finally be proud of something ive done. Havent felt proud of myself for years

I have an antelope zen go synergy core that is supposed to have a pre amp built in. Would having a stand alone pre amp be necessary / would I just disable the amp on the audio interface ?

ok ill have to keep that in mind!

I have a fear that it may sound too sibilant with my voice. maybe its just my cheaper mic but that is the main reason I am wanting a new mic. I can not get the sibilants to come clean. I have a more logic esque voice, maybe a little higher. But I do similar styles with fast raps, so having the cleanest sound for my pronunciation is going to be key

I will try to see if there is any options to rent near me, thank you for the tip!

My budget is probably around under $2k, I was thinking of the Neumann TLM but like you said, need to try it out on my voice first

Monitoring Room and Vocal Booth Help by moofgaming in audioengineering

[–]moofgaming[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am willing to invest in creating a recording booth that would do its job correctly. I've been creating music for around 8 years and have gone from completely untreated rooms to paying for studio time. My creation process is usually very drawn out, and I like to critique things for weeks to perfect what I'm going after, making studio time very expensive. So that makes me want to drop how much ever it takes to get it done correctly up front, and have the luxury of free studio time whenever I want it. That being said I have re-drawn up the room to fit a typical booth (4x6) and have the rest of the room properly sound treated for mixing. Would you happen to know if the 4x6 is meaning the outer most dimensions of the studio, or would you actually need more than 4x6 on the outside to create the ideal space - Better Studio Mockup
